In contrast, traditional mutual fund aims at producing smart relative investment returns as compared to the suitable benchmark. Absolute returns facilitate profitability in most periods and acts over an extensive range of market conditions. Beta measure reduces the risks during the determination of return and risk on stocks and portfolios. Use of beta coefficient in stock selection requires comparison with the market. The investor, therefore, construct the portfolio by drawing the relationship between beta coefficient and the prevailing market prices. Betas carry with them high risks, and markets with negative betas may withstand the fluctuations in market prices. Despite betas helping in stock selection, its effectiveness assumes that movement in the market requires careful analysis of positive and negative directions. Also, beta approach assumes analysis of historical considerations for future prediction. As a result, when portfolio selection fails in accurate reading of the market movements, the resulting portfolio selection is incorrect. This method requires a high degree of precision. On the other hand, the alpha parameter indicates the return on security at zero market return. Essay - Cultural Event Report | Subjects: Literature - CollegeEssay - Critically Evaluate the Importance of Working With Professionals and Families in Schools | Subjects: Education - Masters

Similarly, the technological evolution also realized a shift of the partnering technologies and fields, to incorporate additional components facilitated by the other fields such as the software developers among others.Today, my mobile phone is not just a device that I carry around for communication purposes. Practically, the mobile is a companion to many users (Dhanendran 1). For instance, the number of people with mobile phones is enough evidence of the particulate use of the device. The mobile phones have evolved in its applications, from a simple communications device to an essential operating device that facilitates most of the daily lives of its users. In everyday life, we see people along the streets and in restaurants among other places holding their phones. This not only hampered the economic growth because of a sudden seize in business activities but also disrupted the society at large. It is worthwhile to mention that the financial burden had to be absorbed by US government, which initiated the move to ensure settlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in North Dakota with the assistance of International welfare agencies, Non-governmental and Inter governmental organizations. Some of the examples of flood related agencies include Red Cross, The Salvation Army, FEMA, North Dakota Department of Emergency Services, National Weather Service and others etc (Edward, 2000).It must be highlighted that North Dakota has already observed severe storms and flooding in March 2009 followed by recent flooding in March and April 2010 that in turn have increased vulnerability of residents of this state. In fact, residents of affected counties and areas are left with no other option but to migrate to safer places. This paper is an attempt to highlight the impact of natural disasters specifically on Cass County of North Dakota state. The paper will then throw light over the argument that vulnerability seems to be decreasing in Cass County because the experts have measured risk of only 1.4 out 10 in this particular area. In addition, the paper will also discuss any possible economic effects of flooding on Cass County and draw conclusions after analyzing the latest available information and facts. Stakeholders in the meeting, therefore, discussed that the UN Secretary General gain power to develop WGIG that would research on internet laws.Another outcome of the WGIG meeting was the formation of a private body, ICANN. The functions of ICANN were to manage and oversee significant technical issues and developments regarding internet communication. Among the issues of concern addressed by ICANN is the assignment of names and numbers using IP. Decisions, which ICANN usually makes, are a result of consultations with stakeholders in the sector. Such a statement means that policies and decisions formulated depended on agreements of concerned parties (Reed 56).Many governments, globally, have a realization of the effects of laws that ICANN formulates especially in cases where they fall in line with their national legislation. Among the sections of the laws, which may intersect with the national law are privacy, cyber security, intellectual property and enforcement of the law (Kohl 10). There are claims that some nations request and approve increased control of internet administration through collaborative means. Some nations have an idea that is administering laws would be simple if there are coordinated interstate efforts. Such a move informed the reason for the proposal to have an internet governance body at the UN head offices, Geneva (Drake 50).Proposals by member nations faced opposition from other stakeholders such as America that advocate the suitability of ICANN to ensure internet governance. However, the resilience of Iranian women and the progressive nature of the Iranian youth have played a huge role in establishing the symbiosis between traditionalism and modernity in the contemporary society. Changes in the gender role have been inevitable as the number of cultural and constitutional inequalities disturbing the social fabric of Iran keep on increasing. The role of women in the Iranian society has now become a major topic for cultural articulation that translates into their artistry particularly the art of filmmaking that has become a very reliable barometer for the overall progress and social development of Iran through the depiction of women on screen. Filmmaking in Iran has now turned into a non-confrontational mode for people to voice their opinions and shed light on the plight of women- however, filmmaking hadn’t always been about the oppression of women in the society. In order to sell more in the beginning, the production capacity had also been increased, but the result demonstrated that the demand was only half of the production. So, I have learned that it is not necessary to utilize all the resources as inventory got larger and it is not good for the company. We need to observe the internal position of the organization which will enable us to determine how well the company can manage the competitive and external environment. I also came to know that a strategic planning and critical success factors need to be developed for the products and services. SWOT (strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats) analysis must be carried out, which will allow the company to evaluate their strategic situation. The product life-cycle model needs to be taken into consideration in order to discuss how the cost of product can vary over a product’s life cycle. I also discovered that key performance indicators of the company need to be analyzed, through which we can know what factors are leading to its success and competitive advantage. I also learnt that working in a group is more beneficial than working as an individual as it comprises the ideas of four to five people and involve more communication and consequently leads to an enhanced decision making process. Soft skills need to be developed in order to resolve the conflict which arises in the discussion process within the group. At the same time, time management is also important for successful completion of a project.Strategic planning is defined as the method of defining the plans of the companies for achieving their missions. The strategy of an organization is therefore a derived approach towards attaining that mission. Organizational level and divisional level planning should be directly related to the strategic plan of the organization (Gates, 2010). These perspectives offer sociologists theoretical paradigms for explaining how society influences people, and vice versa”. The aim of the current essay is to apply two of the three sociological perspectives, particularly the functionalist and the conflict theories in the topic, drug and alcohol abuse among teenagers. The functionalist theory focuses on the interdependence of each aspect of society and a determination of how each aspect is contributory to its effective functioning. The Sociology Guide emphasized that the functionalist approach contends that “order, stability and cooperation in society are based on value consensus that is a general agreement by members of society concerning what is good and worthwhile” . On the other hand, the conflict theory “focuses on the negative, conflicted, and ever-changing nature of society. The conflict model holds that the most important aspect of social order is the domination of some groups by others, that society is best understood as an arena of actual and potential conflict, and that when things look peaceful, it is only because one faction controls or dominates a particular scenario. The conflict perspective to drug and alcohol abuse have been explained in terms of specifically identifying which drugs are illegal and therefore tend to be highly susceptible to abuse.Essay - Portfolio of work completed with supporting narrative paper | Subjects: Business - Undergraduate

Suppose the government set a minimum price at 7, more workers will be induced to look for jobs. This will increase labour supply at the same time reducing demand for labourSetting a minimum wage in a two sector economy has a spillover effect in the two economy. For example a model where one sector is more productive than the other, setting a minimum wage in the unproductive sector to reduce the wage gap causes a negative spillover effect on the productive sector. As much as job creation in the unproductive sector is ambiguous, job creation in the productive sector unambiguously decreases. This is because a minimum wage increases the outside option of unemployed workers contributing to wage determination in the productive sector.(c) An increases payroll tax will mostly burden the workers. Hence, automatically increasing sales volume. How the menu looks, reflects as to what is company’s mission and objective. So the menu should be designed in such a manner that it is in accordance to theme and values of the company. Core objective and image of the company should be in line with market dynamics.Factors which can affect customers can vary from market to market. These can be how readable content on menu card is, overall physical scheme, outline, and font styles. As for other factors in communication it is the presentation that is more important rather than what content has been presented in menu card (Glanz, et.al. 2007). Example of this can be fast food restaurants where they have limited items presented in menu. However they sell in bulk quantities. Concept of common counters is present in fast food chains. Hence separate menus aren’t required for each customer. Class of customer coming to fast food chains don’t require descriptions of each product as they are familiar with products being offered. If description is present in the menu it would only serve to slow down decision making process. In these common menus on common sales points, only product name, price and other add ups are being shown along with enlarged picture of product being sold. For avoiding reputational risk, fast food chains need to keep the original product as being shown on sales point. This overall strategy which has been implemented across fast food chains leads to quick service and limited products available at same price at all units of fast food chain (Born, & Purcell, 2006).Alternatively, when we move towards restaurants which present sophisticated theme, class and group of customers being catered change and with it overall theme of menu changes. Islamic civilization reworks and combines elements of older traditions such as Judaic and Christian with the ethical and religious ideas of the Qur’an and Muhammad’s teachings to produce a coherent, dynamic new Islam that is evidenced today. The Islam had one motive, to ensure that they converted everybody to Islamic across the Middle East and to accomplish this, they used means rather than the message in order to convert people into Islamic. With their prominent leader Muhammad, who they adored as their god, every utterance he made was to be followed by every Muslim without questioning. The political shift to Islam meant the emergence of the new ruling elite. Although the Believers’’ movement came to include locals in the conquered areas, the new elite was, at first, overwhelmingly composed of Believers who were of Arabian origin and who spoke Arabic as their native tongue.c) Thirdly, another consequence of the conquests for the Islam in the Middle East was the influx of Arabian immigrants, specifically to the new garrison towns in Iraq, Egypt, and various districts and towns in Syria leading to population pressure of Arabs across the Middle East nations. This shows a high similarity with Christianity where the Christians have strongly followed the Bible and the footsteps according to the Christs teachings. Most bankruptcies would not only involve one creditor but many. Debts are usually classified as secured and unsecured (Bankruptcy Alberta, n.d.). Secured debts originate from valuable assets that come with a security agreement allowing a creditor to take back the assets if a debtor fails to pay or abide by the terms of the agreement with the creditor. Car leases, home mortgages, rent-to-own and other installment purchase contracts are examples of secured debts. The assets such as the car or house in these contracts are given up as collateral if the debtor is unable to pay. The second type of debts is the unsecured debt. This type of debt includes credit cards, overdrafts and the general day-to-day bills that people pay on a regular basis. These debts are often referred to as trade debts. For secured debts, when a debtor is declared bankrupt, the creditor cannot make him pay and his chance to take back the assets from the debtor is very limited. For unsecured debts, the creditors cannot force a debtor who is declared bankrupt to pay regular bills. Unsecured contracts are terminated by a bankruptcy. If a debtor receives a discharge from bankruptcy, the creditor’s right to collect no longer exists. Several laws including the Bankruptcy Code enacted in 1978 govern all bankruptcy cases. The primary goal of these laws is to give debtors a financial fresh start from burdensome debt. Assignment - Sainsbury | Subjects: Business - College

Assignment - research critique | Subjects: Miscellaneous - College A biblical covenant, however, is not one that is made between two equal parties. After reading the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, one would discover that it was always God who proposes that a covenant be made between Him and man. Apparently, this only proves that God is not one who simply imposes his decisions on man, regardless of the fact that these are always absolutely wise and infallible. The covenants show that He also respects the free will that he gifted man with. He may ask mankind to do things in his favor, but he also grants them privileges in return. Man, for his part, also gets some of his wishes from God, he also has to oblige to certain conditions explicitly stated by the Creator. There were instances though that God unconditionally enters into a covenant with man and this only proves that, unlike man, He can grant favors out of love and not out of the wish for benefits. The first most prominent covenant mentioned in the Bible is that between God and Noah. After the Great Deluge, in which He literally washed the earth to rid it of man’s wickedness, God made a promise to Noah. In Genesis 9:11, He said that he would never punish man by destroying the world with flood. To seal the covenant, God creates the rainbow and makes it the sign of a lasting covenant between Him and man. Essay - Data Warehousing | Subjects: Technology - Masters

The lawmakers introduced, passed and signed a bill in November 2007, which led to the abolishing of the death penalty. This made New Jersey the first state to abolish the death penalty. The court argued that the death penalty was costly and posed a risk to killing innocent lives. They also concluded that the penalty was painful to the victim’s families and the community as well, thus reduced it to life imprisonment (Peters, 2007).Illinois became the 16th state to abolish the death penalty in March 2011. The state had for more than a decade imposed a moratorium on execution. The concerns raised after the justice system wrongly condemned 13 men made them realize that it was possible to prosecute innocent people. In January 2011, the lawmakers voted to abandon death penalty. After the vote, their governor, Pat Quinn, took two months to check on this issue by looking at all aspects and consulting prosecutors, death penalty opponents, victims of the families, and religious leaders. He later concluded that creating a perfect system that is free of mistakes and discrimination of race or economic status would be impossible (Vogue and Pinto, 2007). Utilitarianism is a specific brand of consequentialism, where the moral status of an action is based on the utility or usefulness of its consequences. The action that results in the greatest amount of utility is considered morally right, where any actions resulting in less overall utility are considered morally wrong. In Classical Utilitarianism, utility is usually defined as pleasure. In this theory, the morally prescribed action is often described as the action that results in the greatest amount of good, for the greatest number of people involved (Sinott-Armstrong, sec.1). If you take into consideration all of the consequences of a particular action, and that action results in more net good, than net bad, then that action is morally permissible (Sinnott-Armstrong, sec.1). Deontological systems of ethics are often explained in contrast to consequentialist ones, because they are essentially the opposite. Where consequentialist theories focus entirely on the consequences of the act, deontological theories focus on the act itself (Alexander, sec. 1). According to deontological theories, some acts are simply wrong and should never be done regardless of the consequences (Alexander, sec. 1). es have been putting in place to help in reduction of poverty include- liberalization of trade, financial market and foreign capital, privatization of production, legal work framework deregulation, securing of property rights, unifying competitive exchange rates, reformation of taxes by cutting the rates of the taxes and widening tax base and also have less progressive tax, providing social security for the needy and finally having flexible labor markets. It was during this caravan trip that Mohammed developed a deep passion in the travel business, and as a young man, he worked as a camel driver on the route that connects Arabia to Syria. After gaining a deep understanding about the business, he set forth a career in managing caravans for other merchants. Goldschmidt and Lawrence (2005) argued that his engagement in this business enabled him to interact with people from different walks of life and religious beliefs. At the age of 25 years, Mohammed married his employer, Khadija who was a wealthy Meccan widow and 15 years older than he was. Consequently, men have over the years exploited these opportunities, which are numerous, to build themselves economically thereby leaving majority of women to depend on their male counterparts for support. This has facilitated men with an opportunity to exercise control and authority in terms of decision making and occupation of competitive positions in government and the society in general, leaving the women to act as subordinates and which is totally wrong (Friedman, 32). Several factors can be considered to be behind the changing trends that have been witnessed and that are yet to be witnessed at the local and global scenes. One of the factors that led to the changing growth pattern of the economy at the beginning of the millennium was the introduction of the emerging market into the world market. The increased industrialization in various countries like India and China led to increased demand for various products in those markets. Business organizations took the advantage of the available opportunities to invest in the given regions. These regions were attractive as there were still cheap labour and availability of the raw materials for the production companies. The increased employment rates in those regions initiated the economic growth. There was a rise in the in the living standards with more demand on products like energy and food in the region. This demand surpassed the supply of the products thereby forcing the prices of the products to rise. This could be the reason that led to economic recession towards the end of the last decade. Another factor that affects the economic growth is the competition that is witnessed among different organizations in the global markets.

In this essay, the author makes some analysis of this museum experience. He shows us the paintings which were created when Hesse was at a young age, being only twenty-four years old. Since there would be no gains by issuing equity, the firm would issue debt. The key to the decision of the managers on whether to borrow or issue equity lies with the accuracy of the information that they have. In the two cases we analyzed, if the value of shares is actually lower than the current share price (it is overvalued), it would make sense for the managers to issue equity, knowing that investors will respond in such a way that the price will just eventually go down to the actual value of the shares. However, if the actual value turns out to be higher (it is undervalued), borrowing shows that the company thinks (or knows) this is so and will prompt investors to raise share prices eventually matching the value that the managers want it to reach. This phenomenon says a lot about how information about the actual value of a stock versus speculative pricing affects the market. Investors respond to choices made by companies based on assumptions like the ones we illustrated, whether or not managers are educated enough to know that the market will move that way. In this, we see that reckless borrowing or selling leads to undesirable results for managers. In the same way, managers who have deft control of

Term Paper - Export Business Plan (EBP) for a vehicle Karma solar/electric car from USA to United Arab Emirates (UAE) | Subjects: Business - Undergraduate This was while the latter had no time to care for their own families. This paper will examine the novel The Help, connecting its themes and events to those of the civil rights movement and other relevant issues. The Help offers insight into the provocative subject of racial, gender and class segregation during the civil rights movement era. Stockett’s novel is an intriguing novel that examines the lives of black maids during the civil rights movement in the early 1960s. Stockett shows the relationship between African Americans and the whites as a complex continuum of abuse, mistrust, hate, dependence, attachment and shockingly, love. Notably, Stockett wittingly portrays this array of emotions in a humorous and agile manner. However, her expression at the end of the novel shows that portraying these mixed emotions was not an easy feat. In a personal excerpt at the novel’s conclusion, Stockett notes that there is no trickier subject for a Southern writer than that of love between a white and a black person within the imbalanced world of segregation. Nonetheless, Stockett portrays these emotions with equal degrees of seriousness and humor. However, the absence of reference to one of the most critical mass struggles of the South gives a sense of inaccuracy with regard to the novel. The mass struggle in this case refers to that which shattered the Jim Crow structure in the South during the civil rights movement.

Essay - Social Institutions | Subjects: Sociology - Undergraduate A muscle is a vital type of soft tissues found in every organ of an animal’s body, the cells in a muscle of myosin, protein and acting all of which are vital in influencing the shape and size of an organ thus the entire organism (Blakey 77). Among the most vital muscles in the human body that enhance movement is the skeletal muscle. The skeletal muscle is responsible for the upright posture of humans. It connects bones through tendons, which act as levers thereby enabling movement. During a jog, both the arms and the legs move systematically. The lifting and dropping of the limbs during a jog arises from the ability of the skeletal muscles. The tendons in both the leg and the arm lift various parts of the limbs at the various synovial joints.Synovial joints foster the movement of various body parts in humans. Such are the most common types of joints in humans. A joint is a point in the body where two bones meet. Synovial joints have a slimy lubricant that enhances the efficiency in the contact of the bones in humans. Such joints as the elbow and the knee are among the most vital synovial joints that facilitate the movement of a body (Barnett 121). The synovial fluid requires adequate supply of blood from the arteries that share the anastomosis at the joint. Jogging engages the joints thereby heightening their activity. The heightened activity in turn increases the flow of blood through the arteries to the synovial fluid in the joints. Such is a desirable occurrence that enhances the functionality of the joints since they the synovial fluid replenishes itself thus keeping the joints functional. Regular jogging facilitates an adaptation tendency. The arteries expand thereby supplying the synovial fluid with adequate blood. This in turn enhances the production of the fluid thereby reducing the chances of people suffering from any form of joint aches breakages especially in old age.Among the movements at the joints in a

The essay "Mark Rothko - Contradiction between flatness and depth" discusses the art of Mark Rothko. In 1923, he went to visit one of his friends at the Art students’ league in New York where he got the opportunity to see students sketching. This really impressed him and later he decided to enroll in a school of design. One of the instructors that he met was artist Arshile Gorky. Out of the passion he had for art, he undertook other classes at the Art Students League. At the time, painters in New York were having many shows to display their artistic expressions and this largely helped Rothko as an artist. Rothko had his first art gallery show in the contemporary art gallery in New York. He displayed fifteen paintings that were mostly portraits and some drawings that were all oil based paintings. “The ten” was a group that was formed by some artists including Mark Rothko during the late 1935. Their main mission was to object the alleged equivalence of literal painting and American painting. At this time his art started to evolve and he came to the conclusion that his paintings will be influenced by symbols and mythological fables and it became more evident in his later works. This made him gain a reputation amongst people his age and also those who had an eye for art in terms of painting. He then later on changed his works from mythological forms and representations to the use of rectangular smooth fields of light and color. From 1946, Mark Rothko came up with a number of artistic expressions.
