The following sections of the current paper detail the characteristics of the child, his developmental delay, and some possible interventions that may be taken to help alleviate or totally resolve the problem. I. Description of the Child and the Disability The boy who is four years of age, internationally adopted from China at three months of age, demonstrates an obvious speech disorder and expressive language delay noted at 8 and 20 months of age, respectively. Based on his records, his mother conceived him at age 30, and was not hospitalized or medicated during pregnancy. Therefore, factors such as gender, heredity, and environment (Norbury & Tomblin, 2008) may be considered as the roots of the problem. The surrogate mother of the child, who has taken care of the boy since birth, serves as the main source of information and child support. The mother is a housewife who never goes out except to do some grocery or pay bills. Although the surrogate father willingly provides support to his wife, he is the only one working for the family, is usually out, and comes home at night after office hours. Therefore, aside from the mother, the child has no one to interact with at home. Assignment - Career plan | Subjects: Family & Consumer Science - UndergraduateResearch Paper - The Enlightenment in America | Subjects: History - College

According to the ACA report, there are four approaches for mitigating the issues related with the healthcare profession, such as identification and understanding through the errors related with the voluntary and mandatory reporting systems, set up national efforts for enhancing the knowledge linked with the medical safety, increase in standards and expectations in order to bring improvements in safety through increasing involvement of medical professionals, and establishing delivery level safety systems within the healthcare organizations. ACA report sparks the debate among the health policy makers at USA for appropriately responding to the problem.ACA improve its quality or made it worse. In America, lawmakers are putting more emphasis over the healthcare quality with the introduction of protection of patients and Affordable Care Act. Through the reduction in 30 days readmissions, American hospitals have started taking initiatives for fulfilling all the requirements, has even adopted best practices, which results in the improvement of healthcare quality and readmissions between the community providers and hospitals. From last few years, Affordable Care Act is bringing improvements in the healthcare quality by reducing the cost. In 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act- this law puts all the comprehensive health insurance reforms, which were rolled out in last four years. After the quality improvements made by ACA in 2010, a new Patient&rsquo-s Bill of Rights was passed. The classification of data obtained was done in the basis of the parents’ readiness to let go. Those parents who showed the readiness of letting go were classified as “letting go”, while those who were reluctant to let go were classified into “reluctant to let go” category. There are those however, who were “not ready to let go” of their children altogether (Kloep and Hendry 826).Results from the study revealed that although most parents were happy watching their children grow up, they were not very happy watching them leave them. Others were happy and relieved to watch their children grow into maturity and become independent. Different characteristics of these parents showed their readiness to let go of their children. Some had in depth attachment with the children, such that they found it hard to watch them leave. From the results, it was evident that the level of parents’ love and openness with their children affected their willingness of letting go.According to Kloep and Hendry (829), parents who were happy to let go of their children were either working or living away from their children, or their children were university students and thus spent little time toge. Parents who were reluctant to let go were found to have spent a lot of time with their children and thus felt the impact them of the separation. Those who held on to their children loved them so much that they felt lonely by letting them go. Power fights between the parents and the children was a result of the parents who felt that their children were not mature enough to live on their own or make concrete decisions (Kloep and Hendry 830).A number of conclusions were drawn from the study. The researchers found out that the parents had some difficulty in letting their children go regardless of the relationship they had. Parents have an

Laboratory testing can establish the children who carry the active mutation at birth (Dalkilic & Kunkel, 2003). At first, progressive proximal muscle weakness of the pelvis and legs that are associated with a loss in muscle mass. Eventually, this weakness spreads to the neck, arms and other areas. The early signs consist of enlargement of the deltoid and calf muscle, difficulties in standing without help, and low endurance. As the condition progresses, there is wasting of the muscle tissue. By the age of 12, most patients are usually dependent on the wheel chair. Symptoms that occur in the later stage include abnormal development of the bone that leads to deformities of the skeleton. As a result of muscle deteroriation, there is occurrence of the loss of movement, in the long run it leads to paralysis. The average life expectancy for the DMD patients is about 25 years. The diagnoses of the disease include DNA testing, muscle biopsy, and prenatal tests. First, the muscle-specific isoform of the dysrtophin gene is made up of 79 exons. DNA tests and analysis determine the particular type of mutation of the exon (s) that is affected. Secondly, muscle biopsy entails extraction of a small sample of muscle tissue. A dye is then applied to reveal the presence of the dystrophin. Lastly, prenatal tests establish if the unborn child has the most common mutations. The X-linked recessive gene carries the DMD. Males have one X chromosome implying that one copy of the mutated gene will lead to DMD. The mutation is transferred by the mother since fathers cannot pass the X-linked traits to their sons. When the mother is a carrier, one of her X chromosomes has a DMD mutation. In that respect, there is 50 % chance that the

The move was inevitable since huge numbers of Jewish immigrants had moved there. The United nation’s bid to partition the land among Palestinians and the Jews was rejected by the Palestinians and the Arabs and this is when the western world joined in to support the Palestinians. Many Palestinians were killed brutally and were forced out of their land leaving behind their homes including the trees, sea, sun and even the cloud. The narrator tells the young boy that, "you and I and other of our age were too young to understand what the story meant from the beginning to the end" (Kanafani 75).Ghasan Kanafani demonstrates to the reader the catastrophic event of the war on the refugees. The author uses symbol to show how the Palestinians became outcast the life after as refugees. The narrator says "when my glance fell on your fathers face …I saw at the same moment the black revolver and beside it an orange" (Kanafani 80). The audience is made to see his father’s face, black revolver and a shrivelled orange all at once. This is Kanafani’s attempt to show the relationship between the politics in Palestine and the possible practical solutions of the problem. In 1948, the Palestinian leadership had tried to liberate the land but it proved hard since the Arab countries did not support them (Farsoun 32). By use of symbol, Kanafani describes the tragic position of the authority. The narrator notes that everyone is aware of what is happening as they follow the actions from when they start to the end, "Our family problems had began" (Kanafani 78).This Essay - System of Government | Subjects: Politics - Masters Book Report/Review - Memoirs of a Shopping Addict | Subjects: Family & Consumer Science - College

etation, it is the hope of this particular student that the reader will gain a more informed understanding and appreciation for the way in which credit rating works and whether or not it is a useful and appreciable tool that should be considered as vital for the continued economic development of the world or whether or not it should be dismissed based upon its inherent shortcomings.Firstly, in seeking to analyze the benefits of credit rating system, it should be noted that this particular system provides the individual with an incentive to pay their bills, and conduct their financial matters in a responsible manner- as a means of receiving the reward of gaining a higher credit score and having potential access to more readily available credit in the future. Furthermore, another tacit benefit that credit rating provides has to do with the level of discernment that it to financial institutions with regard to whether or not a particular loan or investment would be risky and should therefore be shunned. However, beyond the strengths and potential benefits that the credit rating system can provide, it is also inherently prone to key weaknesses and shortcomings. For instance, at the point in time in which an individual loses employment or is unable to pay their bills, due to a medical emergency or some other unexpected events, the credit rating of the individual immediately plummets. Naturally, at the point in time in which the individual is most in need of immediate credit, the access to such credit is almost all but nonexistent. Furthermore, if an individual finds themselves with extremely low credit, the interest rates that they must pay will be convinced currently high- denoting the high level of risk that the borrower engenders to the financial institution question (Mattarocci 18). As can relatively be noted, the extraordinarily high interest rates that individuals with low credit scores must pay create something of a reciprocal process through which the ability Book Report/Review - Memoirs of a Shopping Addict | Subjects: Family & Consumer Science - College A bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement needed to work in the advertising industry. Any which way, academicians are one in saying that opportunity recognition is not limited to one theory or belief, and is in fact a confluence of three different views or theories, namely: the Creation theory- the Discovery Theory and the Allocative Theory which are discussed by other experts in their own particular ways and methods of analysis. Opportunity recognition is the ability to discern or identify a premise or an idea that may afford one to gain profit or advantage. G. T. Lumpkin describes it as “the ability to identify a good idea and transforms it into a business concept that adds value and generates revenues (2005)”. It is said to be a crucial element in business entrepreneurship (Ozgen,2011), and has been the subject of numerous research and theories by business scholars and researchers because of the various arguments and interpretations attributed to it. Opportunity recognition is based on the premise that profitable business is ever present (Blue, 2010) around us, but they are only recognized by people with cognitive, entrepreneurial mind-set, that is, people who have the genetic predisposition to recognize opportunities when they see one, because of their inherent, genetic thought processes. As one moves upwards on the pyramid he or she has to be satisfied with the needs at the bottom. The pyramid has five divisions starting with psychological or basic needs as discussed above, followed by safety needs, social needs, esteem needs and self-actualization or growth needs respectively. As stated above, one has to fulfill the lower level on the pyramid to reach the next highest level. If one fails to accomplish the lower level he or she has to go back, in addition, the unsatisfied need of the lower level would make the needs at the upper level irrelevant and the person would not see them. The person reaching the highest level will have a different personality as compared to the person at the lower level. Individuals at the highest level of the pyramid are usually hardworking, bright and consider themselves better than those in the lower level. In the book, Acker talks of the general imbalance of men and women in senior position and privileged positions within our corporations. She explains that this is no way a reflection of education but representative of hegemonic masculinity. In practice, the term implies that our society is still laden with gendered inequality. This prompts questions and effort on how such inequality can be addressed to achieve a balanced society that does not judge on gender but on ability. Beyond the book, the term can be used in creating awareness on how gender biasness has created a chasm in our society. Question 2-Means of provisioning Acker constantly uses the term provisioning to describe the activities that people engage in, mostly informal, to be able to cater for their basic needs. She cites activities such as babysitting as a means of provisioning. In a wider scope, and in relation to the economy, means of provisioning appears to refer to all activities that hold the capacity to provide a means of livelihood for members of various classes within an economy.

The same authors also suggested that many entrepreneurs are first-born males of the family who have strong work ethics and some business background. Entrepreneurs work strategically- he or she is a person who knows the right people and can select a good team. These people are different people often termed as minorities (Bolton & Thompson, 2004, p-14). Smith (n.d, p-5) suggests that entrepreneurs are agents of innovation- they find loopholes in the processes and use them as opportunities. Many scholars debate on the fact whether entrepreneurs are born or made? The phenomenon of personality as a foundation for distinct behaviour begs the same argument- whether personality is born or is it made? Is a human being a product of nature or nurture? At times certain skills and characteristics of people which are nurtured over time motivate him or her to become an entrepreneur in the future. Similarly, inherited skills may encourage a person to direct him or herself towards the path of business management. Bolton & Thompson (2004, p-21) in their book have concluded that entrepreneurs are both born and made. In some cases they are born having natural skills while in other cases, entrepreneurs are made after learning the rules of business.Entrepreneurs work in an open, unstructured environment in which they have to do tasks from scratch-they have to begin from primary levels to reach the top (Zhao & Seibert, 2006, p-260). This statement suggests that entrepreneurs have to keep a balance between work-life, family and avoid conflicts between them. This work load, financial stake and work environment may lead to physical and psychological stress. In such situations people with high self-confidence and self-efficacy can survive these strong external pressures. Yet, few people participate in this endeavor, and to most humans, even those who do participate, it comes as no surprise.Pretty much everyone on the planet contributes to global warming, but not everyone has the same size of contribution. A farmer in African who lives in a hut without running water or electricity is not contributing in the same way as a Christmas-loving woman in Pomona with a 5500 square foot home on which she strings a million Christmas lights throughout the months of November, December and January. Both are contributing but definitely the excessive display of lights uses up more electricity and thereby indirectly contributes to the drain of natural resources and pollution of the ozone than does the poor farmer in Africa with a few cows whose methane laden wastes also directly diminish the ozone. The woman in Pomona most likely also consumes meat and dairy products which equal the poor African farmer’s small contribution to global warming. The farmer may not even be aware that there is such a thing as global warming, but the Pomona woman knows. She either does not care or figures many other people are conserving energy and checking their carbon footprints. Their efforts, she reasons, compensate for her lack of effort. That is the tragedy because humans are normally selfish and naturally pass the buck on things that are time-consuming, confusing, or stressful. It takes time to separate one’s garbage. It takes money to buy an environmentally friendly car or to attach solar panels to one’s roof. It is much easier to let others do it and pretend to be on board. In fact, stopping global warming has become such a trendy thing, some people (the few who can afford it) purchase environmentally friendly products just to be hip. For instance, people

Essay - Gangs of New York | Subjects: History - Undergraduate Proper communication is necessary to resolve conflicts that may happen among employees when job satisfaction decreases (Masters and Albright). When there is no communication between the supervisor and the subordinate, the former becomes oblivious to the latter’s needs and demands thus putting the latter under job stress which increases his dissatisfaction. This has bad effects on the organization in the long run. The manager has to remain informed about his employees and the only way he can do it is through communicating with them about what they want to get and what they need to do to achieve organizational goals. Workers need to communicate among themselves so that they can share views and ideas, and stay stress free. This is internal communication. External communication is also as much important which involves communicating with partners, shareholders and the customers. All this adds to the organization’s integrity and rapport which pays off in the long run in the form of employee and customer satisfaction. Works Cited Masters, Marick Francis, and Robert R. Studies that have measured the effect of prospective memory on ongoing tasks show that people respond somewhat slower on ongoing tasks and experience task interference when they are required to remember things to do in the near future (Loft, Smith, & Bhaskara, 2011). Also, people sometimes forget the information stored a prospective memory when they choose to concentrate on the ongoing tasks, leading to those instructions not being followed. Alternately, they may substitute the intended task with a more routine task. Most people use prospective memory to remember important but non-critical activities like speaking to someone, buying food on the way home, or mentioning something of interest during a scheduled future conversation. But some people are required to remember tasks that are critical to their lives as well as to the lives of other. This includes air traffic controllers, paramedics, pilots, train drivers and others. These persons are required to conduct relatively complex tasks while remembering to use special instructions when specific conditions present themselves within the tasks at hand. Even the slightest mistake on the part of these persons in using instructions stored as prospective memory can put multiple lives at risk. That is, as part of performance management, the organisation has to keep the mental as well as physical state of the employees in an optimum state. Only if the employees’ are physically fit and importantly mentally motivated, they can optimally contribute their skill, knowledge and hard work for the success of the organisation. So, through performance management, the employees can be optimally motivated to provide optimal contribution. As part of performance management, the organisation, management, leaders and managers has to implement certain steps or strategies. These performance management strategies will surely elevate the employees’ motivation and make them productive. However, while implementing these strategies, there will certain pitfalls or problematic issues, which could hamper the strategies from reaching logical conclusion. That is, these issues will cause certain problems, which could make these strategies unsuccessful. So, although performance management strategies will lead to many positives for the organisation, there will be some difficulties in aptly implementing it, and this paper will examine this issue by focusing on the performance management strategies in each aspect of organisational functioning.Performance management refers to commitment by managers to achieve highest performance levels. Managers should take responsibilities to eliminate road blocks to success by providing sufficient resources and be careful in employee selection process as well as being ready to provide adequate rewards valued by employees (Cascio, 1996). The activities conducted by managers before, during and after interviews of performance feedback entail roles before interviews including communication with employees on their performance by coaching them, giving feedback and communicating performance efficiency. Information is then stored in three types of memory in three stages. Class lecture is stored first in the sensory memory though the sense of hearing. The lecture is then transferred to the short term memory with the assistance of process of rehearsing and in this stage human beings generate meaning of the information obtained. The lecture learned is then transferred to the long term memory where the stored lecture is recalled by students when they give exams or respond to instructor’s questions.

In the centuries after the death of Buddha, there arose a number of doctrinal of school and monastic sects. Mahayana Buddhism also teaches that the death of Buddha is a mere illusion and his spirit is still alive for human consultation. The early Mahayana sutra was taught by oral transmission and the Buddhist sect during those times were much committed to its preservance. The origin of Mahayana could be traced to the activities of the laity, a lay revolt against the arrogance and pretensions of the monks. As per (Keenan,1993,pg.48-63) “Mahayana teachings subsequently were shaped into a philosophy in the writings of Nagarjuna, a monk-scholar who lived at the beginning of the second century”Mahayana is simply, honest, true, Buddhism which has a doctrine of “emptiness” in it. The strengths of this argument are that women forced to leave the workforce are not really making a free choice but a forced choice due to the gender roles imposed by social expectations of women, inflexible working environments that expect the female worker as a “superwoman” capable of juggling family and career in a perfect life balance, and there is actually a choice gap that limits the options open to women. Weaknesses are those which limits interview sample to elite women only, full anonymity and use of fictitious names. It is also wrong to have a fully integrated life due to feminism’s expectations (Stone, 2007, p. 16).Based on the contrasting statements made by the two authors as to the real reasons why women opt out from the workplace and chose instead to be wives and mothers, I tend to agree with the argument made by sociologist Pamela Stone because she made a more convincing style of arguments based on the social and cultural expectations that women are natural mothers and so the real reasons why many well-educated and well-qualified women opt out is not discussed. The real reasons are that an inflexible workplace with regards to workloads, expectations from a boss, the lower salary

Essay - The Current Obama Administration | Subjects: Miscellaneous - College As the economic situation continues to be difficult, organizations will find it difficult in abiding by their budgets. More resources and attention will be needed to manage and run organizations in the near future (Robbins, Campbell, & Judge, 2010).In my view, these are the most significant challenges because the new leaders of organizations are not adequately furnished with techniques, insight, and knowledge necessary for efficiency. Also, without addressing the issue of burnout, organizations may lose valued and experienced workers. Finally, leaders will be faced with difficult choices on how to adequately meeting the budgetary requirements while still strategizing for the future (Brickley, Smith, Zimmerman & Willett, 2000).The employer should permit a vibrant discussion or a healthy debate among people in the organization so as to choose the most appropriate solution to the challenges (Brickley, Smith, Zimmerman & Willett, 2000).I would choose these steps because if they are utilized, they will enhance the probability of successfully enforcing a change attempt. This is because all people will take part in identifying the problem and solution. The model is unworkable because organizations are affected by situations that frequently change over time. Also, an effective organization demands a comprehension of the core components of organizational principles and techniques, which most manages do not posses (Ott, Parkes & Simpson, 2008).Untested presumptions and inability to consider the informal organization force us to rethink classical design. Numerous presumptions made by classical design are not based on scientific examinations. They are based on value decisions that illustrate what they perceive to be correct attitudes and moral codes toward success. They fail to realize workers may have needs unconnected to work situations. Classical design also ignores informal associations as portrayed by

Whereas the framework of television as a gathering place is characterized by limitations, it is, however, suitable for this research and will be helpful in interpreting the material.Television as a place of gathering means that it is considered a hemmed in system in which figurative interaction between people takes place. When talking about television as a place of gathering, one considers two main things. First, one must first consider its integration with the society- secondly, one must consider it as a source of meaning (Lotz 3). As an integration with the society, the television has a place in the society and people must watch it if they need to access information. The television is also a source of meaning because it enables human beings to understand events as they occur in the natural world. These two main aspects help us in understanding that television is largely a place that does not have any specific location. Religion, thus, capitalizes on the theoretical framework of television as a gathering place to reach out to people from different parts of the world.Television as a gathering place is more suitable to explain the relationship between religion and media. It is a good fit for this research as it helps to show or indicate how the media presents religion. It also helps in explaining why, televangelism has continued to grow by day. The main aim of televangelism is to reach out to as many people as possible (Clarke 618). There are few chances of survival of Christianity if it lacks popularity. Christianity, for example, aims to reach to those people who live in countries where churches have been banned and Christianity is outlawed. In order to reach out to many people, Christians or missionaries turned to television as a place to spread religion. The television has a wide coverage because it reaches vast populations over a short period of time. All people in the
