The typical methodology geared to dealing with performance appraisal systems relies on using a generalized approach where one performance appraisal system is used for a number of different hierarchical positions in an organization (Cascio, 2013). However, it would only make sense to design a performance appraisal system that is attuned to the needs of a particular position being appraised. This paper attempts to design an optimal performance appraisal system for the position of a medical supervisor based on current research findings. Description of Position The performance appraisal system under design is for the position of a medical supervisor. Essentially the position requires a large amount of daily interaction with patients as well as members of staff and occasionally contact with members of regulatory agencies. Additionally, the medical supervisor represents a senior position at any medical institution and is responsible for overseeing the training and skill development of his subordinates. The medical supervisor needs to keep tabs on the budgeting of resources and scheduling of staff members to ensure uninterrupted medical service to patients. Essay - GOOGLE IN CHINA: - THE BIG DISCONNECT | Subjects: Miscellaneous - UndergraduateEssay - An Inconvenient Truth summary | Subjects: Health Sciences & Medicine - High school

Studies have shown that obesity leads to type two diabetes, heart diseases and heat attacks, hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome, and Dyslipidemia. It is therefore imperative that healthier lifestyles are inculcated among young children ever since their childhood. Therefore, it is high time that obesity rate in US is reduced through effective measures and policies, and for this, one needs to have a thorough understanding of the reasons for obesity in the state. Genetics, changed life style of people, unhealthy eating habits, lack of required physical exercises, and food addiction are generally found to be the major causes for obesity. The consumption of high calorie snacks and fast food items can also lead to overweight and obesity. It is proved that most of the obesity cases are genetically inherited. Therefore, the children of obese parents are more likely to be obese compared to those of lean parents. But one cannot negate the other factors as there is a great increase of obesity rate among people who cannot blame their inheritance for being so. The modern fast food culture, unhygienic food habits and people’s unwillingness or lack of time to take proper exercises to maintain their physical fitness have all immensely contributed to obesity in the United States. This paper seeks to give an in-depth evaluation of social media marketing.Different social media networks have subscriptions in terms of millions, which are cheaper than other media platform. This is very beneficial to the marketing company as the resources saved can be used in investing in other fields, which would ensure the continuous expansion of the company. Therefore, social media platforms are able to make it easier for companies to make a variety of cost effective strategies and campaignsIn marketing, the number of audience who access the information being presented by the advertising company matters a lot in the success of the entire marketing process. Since the cost of accessing other media such as newspapers is high, social media fit very well to numerous individuals. The services are easily accessible to many, especially the youths and middle-aged persons, who form a significant percentage of the targeted group for many products. Through blogs and articles, social media platforms have been proved to be very effective in driving traffic to the website, which in most cases results in stronger brand names and increased sales, which are essential for a brand to have a competitive edge in the market (Meyerson and Entrepreneur press 3-63).When marketing global products, other means of marketing such as billboards, newspapers and radio are not effective due to geographical boundaries limitations. On the other hand, social media has no geographical limitation, and thus can be used by various persons in numerous regions across the globe. As such, in marketing global products, social media is very effective as it allows people from different geographic location to meet at the same time and at the same time and air their view freely. This enables the company to have an understanding of the global perception of their product, and

Essay - Which Way, Natural Selection or Intelligent Design | Subjects: Philosophy - College The purpose of this study was to examine the published research regarding corrections officers and their attitudes towards their jobs’ satisfaction and dissatisfaction and the correction officers’ attitudes about punishment or rehabilitation for prisoners. Maahs and Pratt justified the importance of their work in two ways: First, they agreed with Bowker in stating, “Correctional officers bear the primary responsibility for the successful control and treatment of inmates” (Maahs & Pratt, 2001, p. 13). Secondly, the current corrections officers’ demographics have changed from an all-white male workforce to a diversified and professionalized workforce. Maahs and Pratt wanted to see what changes the demographics made in the correctional officers’ attitudes and actions towards the inmates. The authors used meta-analysis to synthesize the data of three decades of research of correctional officers. The study computed mean effect size estimates for three categories of predictor variable (importation, deprivation, and management) across two dependent variables (negative job attitudes and rehabilitation orientation). The analysis combined quantitative synthesis research methodology with the results of 19 empirical studies. This spanned 6,427 cases and resulted in two threads of information- namely studies that specified the predictors of correctional officers':

Moreover, researchers wanted to use a syphilis study to answer broader questions such as if black men possessed the same make up as white men in terms of their response to syphilis. The study was conducted using clandestine techniques for over four decades but the results proved inconclusive. In a similar manner, studies were carried out to see if lead contained in human and industrial waste could be tied down into the soil such that its ingestion would cause no damage. The studies were conducted in impoverished African American neighborhoods and included lead based testing on children (Snyder). The results of the studies failed to substantiate any real means to tie down lead so that it may be less harmful to the human body and mind. 2. Provide at least five distinct and specific similarities between the two studies and discuss them thoroughly. Were there any significant differences? Both studies were carried out in impoverished African American neighborhoods where people were more willing to cooperate with authorities for some small incentive. The Tuskegee Syphilis Study project used men as guinea pigs for observations on syphilis while the sludge based study used children as guinea pigs for observing lead ingestion. The reason why I m choosing this topic is based on the assumption that the flow of qualified, skilled as well as unskilled labor actually contribute towards the economic progress of any country. The typical topic of my paper therefore is to assess the impact of Mexican immigrants on the economy of US.One of the major sources in this regard is the work done by Robert J Shapiro on the impact of immigration on the wages of the American workers. Though this work is not specific to Mexican immigrants however, it provides a general overview of the impact of immigration on the economy. There are many studies which have either supported the role of immigrants in any economy or rejected their impact on the economy. Shapiro’s study suggest that less than 57% immigrants come from Mexico or Latin American countries therefore making Europe and Asia are the major areas from where the recent immigrants are migrant towards America. (Shapiro). It is however, important to note that the major influx of immigrants in American came during 1881 and 1924 when more than 25 millions people immigrated to America for better future and new prospects. However, this flow was restricted after that period and due to changes in the immigration laws, the new flow of immigrants started to emerge after 1965. Since the last decade of 20th century and in the first decade of 21st Century, America is believed to have received more than 1 million immigrants mostly from Mexico and other Latin American countries. (Bodvarsson and Berg)The evidence of the economic earning of the immigrants in US showed somewhat erratic

It is a fact that robots need human supervision or intervention for safe functioning. However, current robots need less supervision from human elements and they are intelligent enough to make necessary changes in its functioning based on the changes in the environment. Robots are currently used for people to conduct remote controlled videoconferencing, navigation, rescuing, assisting and lifting of soldiers in the war fronts etc.It is difficult to define artificial intelligence or AI in few words. Generally speaking "Artificial intelligence is the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men" (Artificial intelligence (AI)). The history of artificial intelligence started along with the discovery of computers in by Charles Babbage.Even though the possibilities of using artificial intelligence or robots are infinite, still people have many concerns about the reliability of using robots for artificial intelligence purposes. After all, robots are machines and machines cannot think as human does. It should be noted that even well experienced individuals are struggling to take appropriate decisions in this ever changing world. Under such circumstances, the reliability of depending artificial intelligence for executing complex jobs which need logical and quick decision making is highly questionable. This paper analyses the Safety and Reliability issue of Robotic System with Artificial Intelligence.Incredible speed in execution is the major advantage of robots controlled by artificial intelligence. Moreover, robots exhaust much slower than humans and therefore it can perform huge volumes of works compared to humans and that also within no time. In manufacturing units, robots can perform complicated works with utmost precision so that manpower requirements can be reduced considerably. The touch of green as a backdrop for the landscape is also harmonious as it gives balance to the color complimented by the light blue sky and white cloud. The cream color of the angels with touch of brown was very appropriate as a complementing color highlighting the harmonious relationship of the figures. The sense of space is depicted though fine lines and smaller figures which create the impression of a far location. The more prominent and bigger figures at the center clearly depict nearness and closer perspectives to the viewers of the art work. The actual texture of the art work appears basically smooth. The visual texture shows balance in lines, color, and spaces to give the perfect illustration of the Madonna in the meadow, with angels tending and giving her company. The visual weight and emphasis is carried by the Madonna as manifested in the color (red and blue) and size (biggest among the illustrations in the painting) with darker lines to create the space illusion that it is closer to the viewer than the rest of the landscapes, except for the angels which appear to be closest to the viewer of the painting. The artist expressed a symmetrically balanced work through the illustration of mountains on both the left and right side of the painting- the clouds also on the left and right side of the painting, the angels being two to provide symmetry, trees and shrubs on the left and rights side, and the focal point, which is the Madonna is strategically located at the center with her right

In fact, more studies are pursued nowadays by scientists aiming to“ create fully self-replicating artificial organisms in the laboratory” ( p.54). Indeed studying about how life evolved is exciting- however, a question remains: Is there life on another planet? The planet I am referring to is Star 61 Virginis, one of the extra solar planets added to the solar system a few years ago ( Laughlin, 2009). Having made further research about the planet revealed very interesting facts, namely: 1. It is visible to the naked eye on a clear summer sky – appears as yellow orange star- 2. It is too far from our solar system – 27.8 light years away- 3. It lies on a planetary system made up of ice like bodies yet it is very hot- The planet had only been discovered lately which presents a lot of speculations from people, especially college students. Although science facts are valid, this does not mean that they are unchanging. Take the case of Pluto which was taught as a planet but later discredited much to the surprise of many people. The planet Star 61 Virginis has different characteristics including high temperatures that could not sustain life forms (de Mello et al., 308). However, this argument goes challenged because the origin of life tells us that in even extreme conditions, life was created. According to Taverner (2005), nurses have a misconception that older patients have their perception of pain lessen, as they grow older. Therefore, they treat older patients who complain of pain differently because they believe that the pain may not be as intense as reported by the patient. This study seeks to find out the role of nurses’ perceptions of patient age as a barrier to effective pain management among the elderly. Pain management is vital in any setting of health care provision identification and treatment of pain adds to the patient’s well-being (Beaton, 2008, p, 73). Furthermore, pain is among the basic human rights that a patient is entitled to, according to Vadivelu, Urman, & Hines (2011, p, 3) and Janmohamed (2009, p, 16). Therefore, the research question of this study is, “To what extent are nurses’ attitudes and beliefs a barrier to effective pain management for the elderly?” PICO in this case, includes a population of nurses who routinely provide pain relief or manage older patients, and the issue of nurses’ perceptions or beliefs of older patients’ pain tolerance or threshold.

Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and it is this time that he had a vision to start preaching to people around the land. John the Baptist is a recognized figure who oversaw the baptism of people and he actually baptized Jesus. He was crucified under the rule of Pontius Pilate. There remain artifacts that portray how he was crucified.ost of the people who are after facts for the crucifixion of Jesus agree that he was indeed crucified but they differ in the reasons for his crucifixion. The Pontius Pilate who was a roman prefect failed to stop the crucifixion of Jesus on ground s that the will of people prevail- he was accused of falsely claiming to be the son of God and the messiah.Since he started teaching, he gathered disciples and dedicated followers. He moved from town to towns passing the message of reformation. Jesus taught that the earth could be transformed to a kingdom of God. Therefore, he was preaching the need for people to be reformed, follow the ways of God and live in a manner that would please God. He was regarded as a wise teacher and he taught in a manner that would appeal to people. To carry out his message, he used parables that people would relate to. It made it simpler for people to grasp his lessons (Grassi 34). Actually, researchers assert that he was highly regarded as a teacher and also a healer in Judea and Galilee. Through the teachings of Jesus, it is evident that he intended all the people he taught to be part of the “Kingdom of God”. It was his full time role to teach in different places accompanied by his 12 disciples.Paul is of the greatest contributors to the spread of gospel approved in Christianity. The mean values for X22 and X32 are 4.82963 and 0.348148148 respectively. To determine if the two mean are significantly different with an equal variance, a t-statistical analysis is undertaken. The one tail results give a t-critical of 1.647649 while the two tails gives a t-critical result of 1.964318. However- going by the one tail, the t-critical is 1.647649 compared with a significance level of 0.00, we accept the null hypothesis that the two means are statistically significant. According to the book page 498, this analysis was supposed to compare the level of satisfaction between male and female-considering the mean. However, from the results there is no substantial support for the null hypothesis to ascertain that the two means are equal, and hence we conclude that male customers are significantly more satisfied than female customers. The mean values of X21, X22 and X23 are 4.82963, 4.464198 and 3.785185. The null hypothesis is to test if the mean of the variables are significantly different. The p-value=3.59 while the significant level α=o.05- therefore we accept the null hypothesis that the mean of the variables are significantly different (p-value>0.05). That is, the mean perceptions of males between the two restaurants do not differ significantly on satisfaction or likelihood of returning. Most customers at the restaurant do not like to party as this is revealed by 14 out of 450 strongly agreed to like partying. Jones mentions in his book ‘The Fairy Tale-the Magic Mirror of the Imagination’ that these tales go back to the time when history was unrecorded. Fairy tales generate from the oral traditions of stories. Later on these products were converted into written material and nowadays millions of booklovers and story readers enjoy these tales at their ease.According to John Steve, fairy tales are the product of pre-literate culture when oral narration was common tool to create awareness about morals and values especially in young children. As already mentioned history of fairy tales go back to centuries. Social media marketing refers to the concept of gaining traffic and attention through launching and running promotional campaigns, through identifying and engaging with influencers and interested parties through social media. Social media marketing is most especially effective and vital for businesses, institutions and organizations that rely heavily on referral and the word-of-mouth as their marketing and communication strategies, considering that there is no easier ways to make referrals or pass word of mouth, than through the social media, owing to its extensive coverage and accessibility. Social media marketing is thus a category of internet marketing, which applies the social media networks as the platforms for communicating and achieving the branding goals of an institution. Fundamentally, this form of marketing entails sharing of written content, audio, images and videos through the social networks, to make such contents accessible by other parties within the social media networks, for marketing and branding the institution.Posing for a moment to dissect the assertions that Social Media Marketing is effective for referrals and word of mouth communication, it is apparent that there is no better way to market an educational institution, than through referrals and the word of mouth. Social media is the most effective channel of discovering and combining news with promotional content, while also serving as the most effective tool for building links to different other networks. Thus, finding and responding to online conversation can be the most effective way of marketing, since social media enables even small business which has no established systems and channels of advertisement, as well as those facing resource shortages to reach more customers.

Sacco and Vanzetti moved from Italy to the United States at different times, but later united through anarchy related revolutionary activities (Carnevale 213). Immigration practices at the time are noteworthy different from today’s handling of the same issue. Immigration of persons at the time was not as strict as today’s. On the same token, there are some immigration practices that were then highly observed, but have turned out to be invalid or irrelevant in the contemporary society. Prior to addressing this issue, it is important to consider that Sacco and Vanzetti were convicted and later executed following murder charges for which they were found guilty. Prosecution undertakings were at the time influenced by more than justice pursuit. For this reason, the conviction and execution of Sacco and Vanzetti remains controversial to date. There are massive immigrant concerns that remain persistent in today’s society, just as they were during the Sacco and Vanzetti time. The interest here is to highlight immigrant concerns that have turned to be irrelevant or invalid in current times. The world society has evolved and revolutionized throughout the years. During this time, there have been a series of changes that immigrant practices have experienced. Such arguments have now resulted in the creation of a philosophical problem, the problem of induction that stands disputed, especially in case of the scientists that are in continuation of using this technique of considering limited number of instances to derive a universal formula. In order to understand the problem of induction, the example of swans will be evident to provide an effective understanding of the issue. By means of induction, it was a universal principle that swans are white, as few centuries ago, people had only seen white swans, and the scientists were inclined to derive the declaration that all swans are white. In this regard, scientists have until today continued to magnify specific observations to create common principles to carry out their planning for prospects of the physical world. However, the major argument of the adversaries of this methodology argues regarding the validity of such suppositions based on only finite observations. Until today, various experts2 have argued over the problem of induction- however, historical evidence indicates that David Hume was the first person to inquire about this issue, and carry out analysis accordingly. During his analysis, he wrapped up by saying that inductive suppositions do not carry any logical explanations, and thus, it is incorrect for scientists to originate universal theories based on such finite observations3.In response, various philosophers endeavored to come up with a solution- however, this problem of induction has remained a major problem in the Western philosophy due to its disputed nature. In this regard, Hume enjoys huge number of advocates until today- however, few of the experts have criticized Hume’s critique on the problem while concluding that although such inferences do not carry justifications4. However, it is erroneous to specify that science depend on the

Movie Review - Fight Club | Subjects: Performing Arts - High school Interviews conducted with Asian teachers who had migrated to the United States revealed rampant discipline problems inside the classroom. These problems include students arriving late, yawning too loud, sleeping during lectures, bullying, and putting feet up on desks, among others. These classroom discipline problems are not confined to the United States alone, as they are beginning to spring up in the Singaporean school system, where discipline problems have in the past been extremely rare. Previously, discipline problems have existed in schools to a minor extent. However, in the past ten years, survey results show the condition escalating, thereby necessitating the development of new classroom discipline methods in order to keep the focus on learning (Tan & Yuanshan, 1999). Discussion Because all behavioral problems, and bullying in particular, have harmful effects that can undermine the learning process, some sectors suggest that teachers should be strict in implementing school rules and regulations in order to curtail the persistence of bullying and other disruptive behaviors in the classroom. However, often behavioral problems first arise in the home, and therefore enforcing discipline at school does not address the whole problem. There is also the possibility of teachers misunderstanding the limitations of strict discipline, and abusing the power they have been given by being aggressive and causing physical and verbal abuse.

Post colonial era witnessed major conflicts, the War of the Triple Alliance (1864–1870) and the War of the Pacific (1879–1884). Porfirio Diaz (1884-1910) tried to maintain law and order in Mexico. He helped modernize economy by boosting foreign investment- export of the natural resources and expanding railroads though majority of land and resources remained concentrated in hands of wealthy owners, resulting majority population poor. There has always been a debate about the relevance of the independent directors in improving the performance of the company. This project is an attempt to identify and analyse the relevance of the independent directors in improving the organisational performance. The paper discusses the extent to which the appointment of independent director can influence the performance of the company and whether the independent director can improve the performance of the company or not. The meaning and the reasons behind the appointment of the independent directors have been studied and discussed in order to have an idea about the independent directors moreover the role and responsibilities of the independent directors have also been analysed to assess the independent director’s scope in improving the organisational performance. The executive directors are employed by the company therefore the company has a control over them. The concept of the independent director came from the thought of having someone in the board who would think only for the betterment of the company without being influenced by someone. Thus the decisions taken by such person would be unbiased and free of any personal interest. Hence the independent director would be someone who cannot be controlled by the company or its management and could not interfere in the work of the independent director.
