The author of the essay "Chinese investment in the extractive sectors in Africa" begins with that Sino-African relations were taken to a different level in 2006 when the government of China announced a wide range of co-operation activities between China and Africa including political, economic, education, culture, health as well as military co-operations (Meine 184). The main document of the 2006 China-Africa Co-operation conference attended by 46 African leaders stated that “peace and development remain the main theams of our time”. It therefore took the initiative to support African economies to attain this end.The government promised to do this by supporting local African nations in their development projects. This is complemented by support to Chinese enterprises to trade in Africa and provide preferencial loans and buyers’ credits to these traders. In the end the author concludes that Chinese influence is growing in Africa, particularly the mining sector because China uses political, economic, cultural and military aid to create a symbiotic relationship for African countries and Chinese-African enterprises. This makes African nations willing recipients of Chinese investors. Chinese businesses are also supported by the China-Africa Development Fund which is a tool for the support of the Chinese expansion to Africa. China has major deal with Central and Southern African countries with copper deposits as well as other petroleum exporting countries. This contributes a lot of money to the Chinese economy. <strong>Essay - n/a | Subjects: Miscellaneous - Ph.D.</strong>Research Proposal - ROLE OF BUSINESS ETHICS IN CORPORATE AMERICA, GLOBAL ECONOMY AND LATEST FINANCIAL CRISIS | Subjects: Miscellaneous - Undergraduate

Nevertheless, there are difficulties ahead. There are two ways to implement a program of universal healthcare. The first is to have the government pay for all necessary healthcare expenses as is done in Canada. This is sometimes called the single payer method. Healthcare is centrally rationed and is available to all by dint of citizenship or residency. This is a good method of delivering the service—even if it is very expensive—but it is hard to implement in a highly developed economy such as the United States'. The second method is to force insurance companies to insure everyone. Normally, insurers don't like people who have preexisting conditions which make them risky. The government can create laws that force them to offer insurance anyway. Usually, the insurers will receive a subsidy to help them out. Before Obamacare passed, many liberals sought a pure public option. But is a public option such a great step forward? With the cost of healthcare rapidly accelerating, it may be too taxing for many countries to implement. Even in Canada, there is an increasing movement towards private clinics (Kraus). With the purpose to stimulate the organization’s performance, Denton invites the OD Consultant to discuss the situation. Thereby, the discussion was conducted about how the work is going on in the plant through employee interview. Denton explained that if the employees work together with full effort and cooperation then there will be good progress in the organization and this will lead to a high level growth. The effective words were to work well together and do a good job. These words are most effective because any person desires to get a good job in any of the organizations to obtain a specific goal or objective. People look for jobs in those organizations that are having good name and fame. Therefore, it is of considerable importance. To bring high level of growth, firstly, the employees should be trustworthy. Secondly, the task given to the employees has to be done sincerely and thirdly, there should be proper coordination with the employees, group leaders, coordinators and also the high level managers. The consultant confirmed the things that were prevalent in the plant through an interview and also explained the shortcomings of this approach. The discussion was ineffective and in order to make those effective, proper meetings could have been held so that the Manager, Consultant and the employees could share their ideas and may also receive the feedback of each employee. The Consultant suggests that if the matters are to be held in different manner instead of interview, it would have been more effective. So, Denton responded by asking for other options, which would bring a significant effect in the organization and would also make things better. The consultant suggested a weekend retreat for the management teams through which the team could gain improvement to various issues.Robert Denton suggested the OD Consultant to hold a weekend retreat as it offers a place for further enrichment of the employees’ performance. Some vaccines are known to fail, therefore making the patient vulnerable to an attack. On this note, the effectiveness of the performance of a vaccine depends on many factors. Stratton (2004) denotes that the nature of a disease is a factor that may affect the effectiveness of a vaccine. For instance tuberculosis has the capability of resisting any form of a vaccine.Stratton (2004) and Beverly (2012) observe that the strain of the vaccine and the timetable of the vaccination program can influence the success or failure of a vaccination program. Some vaccines work better for a particular strain of disease, and other fail to work.It is also important to follow the timetable of the vaccination program, or else the vaccine might fail to work. Another factor is the genetic nature of an individual, and whether he has the capability of generating anti-bodies which will react with the vaccine to prevent a disease (Beverly 2012 and Stratton 2004).Stratton further denotes that the age of an individual plays a greater role in the efficiency of an immunization (2004). For instance, it is useless to immunize adults against polio, because the vaccine will not work. After conducting a needs assessment on the efficiency of early immunization, this paper is therefore a report on the findings, and a learner analysis of the vaccination program. The main audiences of the analysis are parents who serve in the military. The military provides immunization for their officers through the military immunization agency (Lemon, 2002). Assignment - Orlov online monitoring : A Threat to employee privacy in the wired workplace ( research MLA ) | Subjects: English - High school This essay explores the common question that a critical reader would ask after reading the book: How much John Wheelwright contributed to his own country? The fact that the answer does not amount to much becomes really ironical. Were it not for Owen who helps him in school, he would have failed terribly. As evident in the novel, he dodges the draft and later fled to Canada a country where his role as a serial critic to a country continued to be seen. Ironically, on arrival to Canada, he found no interest in this country to boot. Increasingly, he had so many opportunities to improve his life but did very little about it. It is thus difficult to show any compassion to such a boy despite having lost his mother in a tragedy. Though John might have thought that in finding Owen he found faith, he still remains lost, abandoned, dispirited and unhappy all through. It is ironical how the life of Owen appears to be a miracle. The supernatural visions, dreams, the way he perceives himself as an instrument of God are ironical. To support this, he appears not to be of this world. His bizarre spiritual life is validated by his appearance whereby it appears as though he has a direct communication with God. Ironically, it is presented on the other hand that he is entirely of this world. The way he grew up in a granite quarry and his name Meany a word that simply means commonness and smallness contradict the thought that such a small person could have a direct link with God.

Moreover, the possibility that teosinte may have been the progenitor of corn somehow lies in the mere hypothetical existence of a primitive “wise lady” who was believed to possess “the gift of creative imagination” and an understanding of the “particulate nature of inheritance, about dominant and recessive traits, about the recombination of traits” and many other technical aspects of genetics (Galinat 571). Furthermore, the fact that there is only one kernel per cupule in teosinte and the presence of hard casings on its kernels make them difficult to eat. The movement of corn as a crop throughout the Americas was very slow. What accounts for this?  One of the probable reasons why it took a relatively long time for corn to move throughout America during its early stages of cultivation was that corn required “special cultivation techniques,” and that it took several thousands of years for the size and length of the cob of early maize to develop before it was cultivated as an agricultural crop (Prindle). Moreover, it took a long time for the hunters and gatherers of North America to transform into sedentary agricultural groups that cultivated maize (Prindle). This is more like a generalization about the whole western world but to some extent it is true. Some important questions arise as to who is responsible for this drastic transformation? Why has such a change taken place? Why does West feel threatened by Islam? For how long this war between West and Islam will continue? What can be done to change the image of Islam in the minds of the western community? For decades there has been a social war between the west and Islam. Their concepts and culture differ from the very beginning. There has always been a very well defined boundary between both the worlds. One cannot ignore the fact that power of the whole world lies in the hands of the West. The West sees Islam as a conservative religion and considers the followers of this religion as narrow-minded beings. Muslims all over the world are being discriminated and in some places it is even seen that they are humiliated. But this is more like digging into the past and gaining evidence on the basis of social sciences. The present scenario of the world is more important to answer the above mentioned questions (Shadid & Koningsveld 2002).It all started when the world was shaken by the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre. According to the investigation reports it was found that the people responsible for these attacks were Muslims.

The choice of market assumes significance considering the high economic growth of the nation as well as the demand for quality healthcare in the nation. Intensity Level India emerges as one of the most favorable destinations for setting up a healthcare unit for cardiac ailments because of the huge market size. A research reports currently values the Indian healthcare industry at about 34 billion US dollars. This value is expected to reach up to the tune of 40 million dollars by the end of 2012. In addition to this the burgeoning population of the nation also adds to the profitability of the Indian market. In addition the lack of facilities with the government hospitals acts as a lucrative opportunity for the private sector considering the fact that approximately 80 percent of the healthcare spending is being done by the private sector in the nation (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2007, p.1-2). Marketing Mix Product The proposed cardiac super specialty center would have all the aspects that would provide world class treatment facilities. The hospital would have a narrow breadth with regards to the product offering and would only focus towards cardiac and heart ailments (Berkowitz, 2006, p.218, 219).

The U.S. is still struggling to recover from this crisis to date. It will also describe why Arizona is having one of the best recoveries of the real estate market in the U.S.The crash of Arizona’s real estate market was caused by a number of factors according to a study. Firstly, economists argue that the crash was caused by poor lending practices that the adopted by lenders just before the crash. In this regard, banks are reported to have lent a lot of money to mortgagers without taking into account their ability to repay the loans. As a result, when the economy of the country started declining, many mortgage owners began experiencing difficulties repaying the loans and the mortgage interests resulting in default. Consequently, since there were no enough homebuyers in the market, prices of homes in Arizona dropped to an all time low leading to the crash (Vannutini Par. 3).The crash was also caused by speculative buying rather than sheltering. A research conducted by the National association of Realtors found out that about 23 percent of homebuyers only do so for investment purposes while about 13 percent of those surveyed identified their buying for vacation, which in itself signifies speculation. A research indicated that a majority of homebuyers from Arizona real estate market bought their houses at low interest adjustable rates with the intention of keeping their costs as low as possible then sold them at higher prices for profit. With speculation, buyers kept off the market when prices are high and making purchases when prices are low. The more the speculation continued the more the market prices declined leading to crash of the market (DeGrace Par.5).Low interest rate is also cited as the leading cause of the Arizona real

Essay - Acquiring Business Communication Skills Necessary for Business Graduates | Subjects: Business - Undergraduate The governments that exist today and related organization like the United Nations have attributed their democratic tastes from the theories of John Winthrop and Thomas Hobbes. In Social Contract, Hobbes states in his Second Law of Nature that preservations are self-sought communally and rationally. Winthrop’s Model of Christian Charity comes out with several rules that are necessary for carrying out various activities. It is through the ideas of the two renowned scholars that the ideals of democracy have been adapted. In Hobbes account of the widely respected field of human psychology, he illustrates the first law of nature (Fabre 32). The rule states that human beings are forbidden from carrying out acts that can destroy their lives or take away the means of preserving the very same lives. He further explains that self-preservation is sought rationally through a communal agreement (Fabre 34). It is, therefore, natural for individuals to give up on some freedom or liberty so as to attain the security of self-preservations. From this, Hobbes comes up with a concept that socials organizations and political settings that are present today are anchored on or pay much emphasis on them. The condition that forces individuals to give up rights at the expense of collective security is termed as a social contract.Contract emerges from the mutual transfer of the rights (Fabre 12). Nature has it that all are entitled to everything. There should be no limits to the right of natural freedom or liberty. So when individuals agree to transfer these rights to freedom, the social contract is achieved. In the place of natural right, a limited right comes in, for example, the right to property (Lijphart 45). According to Hobbes, these agreements are not made only because one is raised in a more civil society that has rules and conventions (Fabre 11). Essay - A Post 9/11 World | Subjects: Miscellaneous - Masters Being a non-contact technology, the NFC is highly advantageous as it does not require establishment of physical electrical contact. As such, in applications such as those requiring the use of cards, there is no need of inserting cards that use NFC into the reader, thus avoiding any problems that may be associated with poor contact. It is important to note that NFC uses inductive-coupling at a license free frequency allocation in the radio spectrum HF portion(Ahson & Ilyas, 2012, p. 33). NFC has a set of standards that govern it thus allowing for connectivity between NFC devices from different manufacturers. Besides creating the contactless environment for NFC interactions, the standards also determine the data transfer rates and the data formats. An NFC connection is simply achieved by bringing two electronic devices together within a close range to allow them to communicate. This eradicates the problem with identification and minimizes the issue with security, allowing for easier exchange of information. The NFC can be used for a variety of applications including in: mobile phones to transfer files from one handset to another- personal computers to link up networks for data transmission- point-of sale machines- turnstiles- parking meters- vending machines- and in other applications in the house or office, such as opening and closing of the garage doors(Finkenzeller, 2010, p. 80). The NFC connections could also be applied in the configuration of the connection between two devices that have wireless connections. Bringing the devices together allows for the initiation of the NFC connection which in turn initiates the set-up procedure. Other long-range wireless devices including the Bluetooth could be configured through communication with the NFC interface(Coskun, et al., 2011).NFC are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle (MITM) attackswhich involve attackers succeeding in interception of the communication

The story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves also teaches both the good and the evil aspects. Grudge, greed and lust for becoming wealthy by sidelining the relations are negative attributes that have been presented in the story. Help, honesty and loyalty are the good characteristics that are taught in that story. The major differences between a prose and drama include that the prose is written on the basis of general spoken language without the intention of showing a story regarding a particular object to the target audience. On the other hand, in a drama, there is composition involved regarding the characters, places and other things thus displaying the virtual image of a particular incident in the mind of the reader. Poetry is however a different genre of literature which involves the use of rhythmic words, short lined and completely meaningful sentences giving, the subject of which can incorporate any idea.Protagonist is the main character of a story, novel or other work of fiction such that the entire story revolves around the protagonist. It is not a necessary that a protagonist may always be a hero of the story but he/she can be anyone. An author can present the protagonist besides the typical hero-villain sphere. It can be said that the central character of a story is based upon the protagonist and it is not necessary that whatever represented by the author or narrator regarding the protagonist also reliable at the same time. At times the protagonist describing the whole story and at times the author states the story in the form of narrator. Both of the above forms have their own biasness shown in the story. In developing the moral of the story, an important role is mainly played by characters, plot and settings such that everything collaborated in a well organized form leads towards a specific moral. I was pretty confident knowing I would make a great addition to the team. After all I have been playing soccer longer than most of my team mates trying out. However what I did not count on was my lack of preparation. I had spent most of summer that year at home playing a lot of video games and hanging out with friends while my friends were preparing for soccer tryouts. My Dad strongly encouraged me to join the cross country team so I would be conditioned and get in shape for tryouts but I ignored his advice. So there I was again, staring at the list. How could this have happened? In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure”. I can assure you that I was not content with my failure that day. Success for me is defined as preparation, commitment and motivation to achieve my goals. I hope to apply this valuable lesson to my college experience. I know there will be successes as well as a few failures but as long as I remember that there is always something to be learned by both. May be I will not

Research Paper - Human Services Program and Profession Unit 1 Seminar | Subjects: Miscellaneous - High school There are normal memory loss (age-related memory loss) and pathological memory loss. This paper will particularly discuss memory and ageing with particular reference given to normal and pathological memory loss. Memory and Ageing Many people are worried about the issue of memory loss as they get older. The fact that memory loss is one of the major identified symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease adds to the intensity of the issue. Once an individual gets older, some significant changes occur in the way one’s brain works and remembers things. In addition, decline in mental powers is very common in old people and this situation also increases the risk of dementia. However, it may not necessarily occur in all individuals- and a significant percent of people reach their 80s or 90s without getting any significant damage to their memory. As Macnair (2010) reports (BBC Health), generally an individual has three different memories including working memory, short term memory, and long term memory. An individual’s working memory stores only very recent things like what he ate for breakfast. The short term memory stores things such as a future event date the individual has just checked.

The basic major components of CNC are the brainstem, cerebrum, cerebellum and diencephalon in the brain, and the spinal cord, while the PNS consists of the nerve fibers extending into the body parts and organs. Their location in the body and their protection are further clarified in this paper. Each part serves a unique function, which upon damage would result to a specific body disorder. Keywords: Central Nervous System, Peripheral Nervous System, Nerve Fibers, Neurons, Environment, Stimuli, Response Basic Neuroanatomical Structures When a person is pinched, they admit to feeling pain, or when a sharp object is brought close to the body, there is that feeling followed by a particular reaction, probably a scream or evasion. Well, everyone has nerves and when active, would sense a feeling (of touch, hit, pinch etc) then immediately act to respond. In general, all these are facilitated by the nervous system, which consists of a complex network of nerves cells (neurons). The nervous system is split into two: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), but all coordinate in body functions. CNS and Structures Location CNS which is made of the spinal cord and the brain functions to evaluate and make sense of incoming sensory input and produce a response (Alters, 2000). The Brain is a critical part that controls the functioning of body organs- it is located inside the human head.
