I am especially interested in the cases of those children who were kidnapped by someone other than a parent, and who were held for some time and structured into a “familial” relationship with their kidnapper/abuser. My research question is: What techniques do kidnappers use on kidnapped children to deconstruct and reconstruct identity and integrate them as a “family member” (however dysfunctional)? My hypothesis is: there are patterns of commonality in the techniques kidnappers use on kidnapped children to deconstruct and reconstruct self-identity and integrate them as a “family member” (however dysfunctional). The kidnapping of children by a stranger is a rare event (Gardiner). Fewer still survive months or years in captivity. It is rare but it happens. It happened to Jaycee Lee Dugard (ABC News). It happened to Shawn Hornbeck (CBS News.com). It happened to Elizabeth Smart (Netter, Stone and Friedman). They have told their stories, and surely there are others. I will collect data by looking at the cases mentioned, and any others I identify. Essay - MEDIA ANALYSIS | Subjects: Miscellaneous - Ph.D.Essay - The Rights of Corporations vs. The Rights of Women | Subjects: Law - College

Conversely, Plato (through Socrates) makes the contention that justice and morality are not socially constructed entities, but instead exist objectively. In this instance, humans should adhere to justice and morality regardless of the consequences. This essay considers these points in relation to the Republic and presents my own position on the debate. From the very opening of the Republic Plato sets about establishing the notion of justice and considering why it should be followed. One of the first aspects that are addressed in terms of justice concerns its very nature. In Book I Cephalus argues that justice constitutes following the laws and legal regulations that are established. Socrates refutes this claim arguing instead that while it would be legal to supply a madman with a weapon that you had taken from him, it would not be morally just as this could cause problems. A series of arguments regarding the nature of justice then occur, wherein an individual raises a socially constructed aspect of justice that is then refuted by Socrates in various ways. For instance, Thrasymachus argues that justice doesn’t exist, but is merely the demonstration of the stronger person or entity’s will. In addition, all the five works take characters that have a background of African origin. In this essay, the themes of isolation and alienation, materialism and social position, race and African identity will be discussed by means of the five works and their analysis.Othello’s being an Alien in Venice and the gulf of culture, race and complexion—that exists between him and the Venetians—in an important theme in the tragedy in Othello. The theme of race and the themes of isolation and alienation can be combined because it is because of the race that the character of Othello considers himself alienated from the Venetian society. Shakespeare forced his audience to see Othello with the “bodily eye” of Iago. Othello tries to attach himself to the Venetian society on the basis of universal virtues such as love and loyalty. However, Iago’s attempt in realizing himself as an alien makes him to a step that takes him to his tragedy. Therefore, it is quite clear that Othello has evidently awareness of his race and color as different to Desdemona. This racial difference becomes a cause for his consideration that Desdemona has illicit relationships with Cassio. He also considers himself alienated from a society, which is not his. He tries to be a part of that society but he is always aware of his being different due to which, he is alienated and isolated.Like Othello, the themes of isolation and alienation in Everyday Use can also be assembled with the theme of race. It is worth beginning by describing the role of insulin when the body is functioning normally. When a person eats, the levels of glucose in their blood increase, as foods, and especially carbohydrates, are digested. Glucose is the main source of energy in the body, but must undergo metabolic processes in cells to produce this energy. Among the body’s homeostatic systems – the mechanisms for keeping conditions in the body within a given, safe range – is a system for controlling insulin levels, by removing or adding it from the bloodstream. Key to this process is the hormone insulin, produced by the beta cells in the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. When the blood glucose level rises after eating, the pancreas secretes insulin into the blood. This stimulates the cells of the liver to absorb the glucose from the blood, thus reducing the level of glucose in the blood.Diabetes takes two main forms, generally known as Type 1, or insulin dependent Diabetes Mellitus and Type 2, or non-insulin dependent Diabetes Mellitus. Type 1 Diabetes accounts for around 5-10% of cases- Type 2 for around 90-95% of cases. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease. Such diseases occur when the mechanisms of the immune system – the body’s defences for dealing with infection and disease - damage parts of the body. This is a failure by the body to recognise some cells as parts of itself. In the case of Type 1 Diabetes, the body destroys its own beta cells in the pancreas – where insulin is produced. Therefore, when the glucose level in the blood rises, cells do not have sufficient energy for metabolism, which can leave the sufferer in a very dangerous situation. Suffers of Type 1 diabetes need to take insulin injections every day, in order to maintain normal blood glucose levels. The first insulin injections became available in 1921. Before this, people who suffered from Type 1 Diabetes Essay - Electronic music | Subjects: Music - College Shakespeare based the play on four different stories all of which revolved around the complicated relationships between women and men during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. For example, Oberon and Titania marriage and separation after a long custody battle, Theseus and Hippolyta’s courtship filled with several strained circumstances and the complicated love of the other two couples in the play (Shakespeare p. 18). Mirroring these troubled relationships, this research paper concentrates on highlighting the traditions, beliefs, marriage laws, gender roles and love during the sixteenth century England as portrayed by Shakespeare, through the strained relationships that existed between women and men in the play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.Similar to the current institution of marriage and love, laws, beliefs and traditions also existed in marriage and love during the renaissance period as portrayed by Shakespeare in the play ‘A Midsummer Night Dream- whereby people regarded the marriage institution as purely sacred and secular. According to the secular law, marriage served a way of uniting two people bound together by love, while, on the other hand, the folks believed in the sacredness of marriage and love because it brought two individuals together in holy matrimony for the sole purpose of procreation just like in the case of Oberon and Titania. The two couple loved each other at first that they decided to get into a sacred union where they bore their son, though later they go through an endless custody battle as their relationship hits a sour note (Shakespeare p. 28). Based on the monarchy and patriarchy structures of power in the renaissance era, marriage acted the key cornerstone that led to the continuity of power in the society. However, despite the belief in the secular and sacred aspect of marriage, debates still loomed as to what balances should exist in the rights and family expectations

Shane is described by Marian as “dangerous” (15). His characterization in the story is someone deep and enigmatic. Though not stated, this is maybe because of how he has become of his past. For someone who can obviously express and predict the strategic tactics of the antagonist named Fletcher, Shane must be someone who has already thought and acted such a likewise manner before, or he must be someone who has involvement in such fights with the Fletcher kind of man before. He has predicted the possibility that the villain, Fletcher, could attack one of the farmers. He is so right when Ernie Wright got killed. Then, Shane also foresees that Joe would soon be attacked. It is like a manner of thinking how the enemy thinks in which he does very well. Even though the tale has communicated that Shane has a gun. However, he is a man who does not take his gun with him unlike the other farmers.

Essay - Crime Theory | Subjects: Psychology - Masters The mortgages are secured by claims against the various estates the mortgagors purchase. Afterwards, the individual mortgages are huddled together as a mortgage pool. The pool is held as the collateral for an MBS. The MBS can also be issued by a third-party financial institution for instance a large investment banking company or similar bank where the mortgages originated from. Aggregators can also issue mortgage backed securities. There are MBS whose main purpose and interests are guaranteed by a United States government entity or sponsored enterprise. The securities are known as agency MBS which do not expose an investor to credit risk. For a non-agency MBS, issuers normally employ various vehicles to enhance the credit of the security in order to obtain a targeted investment-grade rating. Investors within MBS are exposed to uncertainties about the future cash flow since the borrower has every right to repay the loan wholly or partial as long as it is before the maturity date. This is called prepayment risk which is a major factor in understanding MBS. When the MBS is being created, an issuer would choose to break the mortgage pool severally to different parts known as tranches.

He was regarded as a wise teacher and he taught in a manner that would appeal to people. To carry out his message, he used parables that people would relate to. The power of the suppliers has however been reduced using contracts, competitive bidding, and agreements but still supplies have control resulting in the moderate bargaining power of suppliers for DWC. High costs of purchase and maintenance of Material Handling Equipment are also the other factor that provides for supplies having bargaining power.DWC serves a wide market, owing to its global scale of operations, resulting in the ability of a single consumer to have considerable power to influence the decisions and pricing. Consumers lack access to a platform offering the quality and extensive services available at DWC

The aural students can also learn best by forming discussion groups among themselves. They can make use of another category of students who understand the written notes to explain to them in words. In such groups, the students exchange ideas and concepts as they hear again and again from the word of mouth. However, for the aural student to achieve maximum knowledge, the discussion has to be a two-way traffic- a give-and-take principle. The student who prefers aural learning style must also talk as he explains his ideas to others. As he talks, he also gets to hear his voice speaking the concepts in his brain. Such students may as well make use of a tape recorder while attending a lesson in class. The tape recorder would then be played later by the student as he listens to the voice to the very voice of the teacher over and over again. The student can also remember the examples given by the teacher in class through relevant stories and jokes. The only drawback for this student is that he tends to have poor and incomplete notes since he prefers audio to notes. To counteract this risk, the student has to collect more notes and fill the gaps in his book by a discursive consultation from friends and other audio sources. He can also summarize all his notes and convert them to audio if he wishes to. The strategies discussed above are only meant for the intake of knowledge. They always imagine that the examiner is with them in person and that they are being examined verbally. The first gum in America was noted in as early as the 800s when spruce tree resin was taken from the bark and chewed on. This chewing gum continued to be used until the 1800s when it became a commercial product (Ford Gum, 2011). When chewing gum was first processed, it began with taking gum from spruce trees. There were also options to have a silicone base with the gum. However, neither of these options allowed for continuous manufacturing of the gum. The process used today began by Thomas Adams. Adams was introduced to chicle, a rubbery textured tree sap that is found in both Mexico and in Central America. The chicle is scrapped from the trees and immediately consists of a rubbery substance that can be chewed. The gum is then processed to make a different consistency and size. The chicle is placed in hot water until it begins to reform into a putty type of consistency. After the putty is made, the gum is processed into different flavors. The ingredients include sassafras and licorice, which creates the main taste for general bubble gum. Other types of gum will also add in other flavors, such as mint, peppermint or fruit flavors. He dedicated his life to protect the weak and stand for the truth. From this, one can articulate that, mission work began with Jesus Christ. Since then, Jesus followers received a mission of spreading love and compassion to all people as a vital aspect of making disciples of all nations. To this point, it stands out that, the work of a missioner entails a lot such as, teaching and preaching the word of God, protecting the weak, leading the captives free, and giving gifts to men among others. In a way, missionary work is referred to as the great commission described in Matthew 28:18-20 of going forth and making men disciples of all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them the word of God. Throughout history, Maryknoll has emphasized missionary and ministry work particularly in Korea, China, Africa, East Asia, and Latin America. Up-to-date, these missioners have played a significant role in the Catholic Church, in alleviating poverty, and enhancing constructive changes to many lives. With this regard, the following paper seeks to discuss the Maryknoll missioners as well as their impact on people’s lives. On this basis, men can only have the normal number of ribs, irrespective of whether God removed one of Adam’s ribs. Secondly, as ribs are not a sex-linked characteristic, there is no reason for males and females to differ in this aspect. Sexual dimorphism is not necessary in ribs.Root-Bernstein, in line with his belief in religious freedom, goes on to reason that the above scientific evidence does not necessarily contradict religious beliefs. He reasons that the Bible does not specify the number of ribs Adam initially had. In this context, there is no biblical basis to infer that Adam had the same number of ribs as modern humans, and that his male descendents should be short of a rib after God removed a rib from Adam. The Professor, thus, gives both scientific evidence in support of the theory of evolution, and allows the student to retain religious freedom. He emphasizes that a scientific approach should not be based on assumptions, but must employ logic and observation to arrive at conclusive evidence regarding any

Case Study - Johnson Matthey | Subjects: Miscellaneous - Undergraduate Validity: External, internal, and constructThe establishment of authenticity, originality and applicability of any research work is a matter of judgment. The judgment is derived from the understanding drawn from various factors. In order to establish the importance and difference between the three types of validity, a causal relationship between, loan default and poor credit worthiness is used as example. The research paper endeavors to uphold the contrasting features of external, internal and construct validity through subsequent comparison of the characteristics as well as threats for the same. Characteristics of external validity External validity examines if the causal relationship which is observed can be generalized and applied across different measures, persons, settings and times. This is one of the unique characteristics of external validity. If the conclusion derived from the test cannot be generalized then it means that it is applicable to only a part of the population (Linn, 2011). It is a type of evaluation of the experiment that questions whether the experimental results are applicable to the populations and situations which are different from the original experiment. For example, in the loan defaulter classification analysis it is found that certain characteristic features are unique to the defaulters. These characteristics can be applied to generate a probable score of the defaulters of short term loan (Lune, Parke & Stone, 2012).

Codes of conduct are influenced by religious beliefs and the law.Justice in human experience occurs as a process that moves within three concrete circles. The personal context represents the individual sense of justice. This context has the responsibility of examining the right or wrong and evil or good in life experiences. The second circle characterizes the community context for justice. This circle comprises the physical environment in which justice operates: urban, rural or suburban. It also includes the people in this system and their interactions. In the society, criminals do not operate in seclusion. Criminals require victims and circumstances. Crime relates to social conditions and circumstances through its subjectivity to the criminal justice system and the law. The social context of criminal justice ethics understands the necessity for recognizing criminals, not after the crime, but also through the comprehension of the environment and conditions that force people into crime. The social context of criminal justice ethics also involves the self-judgment of individuals in relation to others (Schneider, 2009).The third circle of criminal justice ethics involves the processes of criminal justice. This provides the only perspective for understanding criminal justice ethics. This circle requires the

The U.S. is still struggling to recover from this crisis to date. Despite the crash, Arizona is reported to have had one of the best recoveries from the crash throughout the U.S. This paper analyzes the causes of Arizona’s real estate market crash. It will also describe why Arizona is having one of the best recoveries of the real estate market in the U.S.The crash of Arizona’s real estate market was caused by a number of factors according to a study. Firstly, economists argue that the crash was caused by poor lending practices that the adopted by lenders just before the crash. In this regard, banks are reported to have lent a lot of money to mortgagers without taking into account their ability to repay the loans. As a result, when the economy of the country started declining, many mortgage owners began experiencing difficulties repaying the loans and the mortgage interests resulting in default. Consequently, since there were no enough homebuyers in the market, prices of homes in Arizona dropped to an all time low leading to the crash (Vannutini Par. 3).The crash was also caused by speculative buying rather than sheltering. A research conducted by the National association of Realtors found out that about 23 percent of homebuyers only do so for investment purposes while about 13 percent of those surveyed identified their buying for vacation, which in itself signifies speculation. A research indicated that a majority of homebuyers from Arizona real estate market bought their houses at low interest adjustable rates with the intention of keeping their costs as low as possible then sold them at higher prices for profit. With speculation, buyers kept off the market when prices are high and making purchases when prices are low. The more the speculation continued the more the market prices declined leading to crash of the market (DeGrace Par.5).Low interest rate is also cited as the leading cause of the Arizona real

Validity: External, internal, and constructThe establishment of authenticity, originality and applicability of any research work is a matter of judgment.
