According to Teachers Tenure Act (TTA), any tenured teacher may be dismissed due to his or her performance (Clem, Clay & Calhoun, 2006). The school system has the obligation of informing teachers about their performance inadequateness in order to give them opportunities for improvement. Grounds of inadequate performance can be used to support the dismissal of teachers on the objective of evaluations leading to a conclusion of inadequate performance. In addition, this ground also applies to both the control of the student and the teaching method of a teacher. The act reveals that before a teacher is dismissed for inadequate performance, he or she should be allowed to understand what is expected of him or her. This gives teachers adequate information of what performance inadequacies are in order to overcome them (School Employment Law, 2002). Subjective evaluation of inadequate performance in a teacher is evidenced by poor performance of the students and shortcomings of their progress. This is as a result of poor organization of classrooms and failure of the teacher to show applicable initiatives in finding effective means of attaining their objectives. In addition, poor performance can also be as a result of teachers’ inability to maintain good order in classrooms. Both these great composers had graciously accepted to lend their support for a charity concert in aid of the starving millions around the world.Brahms was an accomplished pianist whose compositions consisted of Chamber ensembles for different symphony orchestras and also for solo voice and chorus. Most of his compositions were complex and his innovative compositional techniques were deeply rooted in the Baroque and Classical style. Liszt too belonged to the Romantic era and was a thorough virtuoso at the piano and one of the most serious composers of his time. The venue was the grand (please fill in the venue you like) which was teeming with excited and enthusiastic crowds waiting to enter the hall. The people were ushered in by 7.45 because the concert was to begin at 8pm. Silence descended on the audience as the lights dimmed and the curtains began to go up.The opening number for the evening was by Liszt the great composer and his orchestra. The audience cheered and clapped as the orchestra was introduced and stood standing as composer took the stage at the piano. Silence descended as the music filled the concert hall. The opening piece was the very well known ‘Hungarian Rhapsodies’ which had formerly been written only for piano but later had been arranged for orchestra. The composer exploited the piano to such an extent while playing the arpeggios that it gave the audience the impression, that three hands were used for playing instead of two and at times he made the piano sound as if it was a huge Gypsy Band with its lavish rapid octaves in addition to the daring runs and leaps. Liszt’s originality and range of dynamics enthralled the audience no end as they gave him a standing ovation at the end of the piece.Brahms Violin Concerto followed after formal introductions of the orchestra were done and the concert hall resounded with applause from the audience as Brahms was welcomed. As the hall fell silent again,

Essay - Business Environment in ........ | Subjects: Business - Undergraduate Studies that have measured the effect of prospective memory on ongoing tasks show that people respond somewhat slower on ongoing tasks and experience task interference when they are required to remember things to do in the near future (Loft, Smith, & Bhaskara, 2011). Also, people sometimes forget the information stored a prospective memory when they choose to concentrate on the ongoing tasks, leading to those instructions not being followed. Alternately, they may substitute the intended task with a more routine task. Most people use prospective memory to remember important but non-critical activities like speaking to someone, buying food on the way home, or mentioning something of interest during a scheduled future conversation. But some people are required to remember tasks that are critical to their lives as well as to the lives of other. This includes air traffic controllers, paramedics, pilots, train drivers and others. These persons are required to conduct relatively complex tasks while remembering to use special instructions when specific conditions present themselves within the tasks at hand. Even the slightest mistake on the part of these persons in using instructions stored as prospective memory can put multiple lives at risk.

However, the expected rain turned to hail and soon destroyed all his crops which placed his family in an anticipated hunger throughout the year. Thinking about his God whom he knows would provide for their needs, the farmer then writes a letter to him which he sent through the mail. In the amusement of the postman and the postmaster, the former tried to correspond with the farmer but found the task to be challenging when he opened the letter and found out that the farmer was asking for a hundred pesos in order to re-sow the fields and to live by while they wait until harvest time. The postmaster then made his best to raise the money but was able to just send seventy pesos. When the farmer received his mail, he was disappointed when he opened it seeing it was not the full amount he asked for. So he made another letter telling God he just received seventy pesos and asking him to send the full amount of a hundred pesos because he badly needs it. Moreover, he asked the money not to be sent through the mail because the post office employees are crooks, thinking the thirty peso deficit was taken by them. Essay - Marketing Planning | Subjects: Business - College One excellent solution to this problem is community organizing. Taking care of five children is not significantly harder than supervising one, yet walking around you see dozens of parents taking care of only their own child on their day off. With a little bit of communication, community organization and logistical support, it would be very easy for members of a community (be it a neighborhood, a work place, or even a club) to establish small of say 5-6 parents who would share child rearing duties for the entire group on one of their day off on a rotating schedule. So each parent would take care of the whole group’s children one day a week.

However, conformity gives us a basis to make decisions, yet it may lead to bad decisions if information is withheld to challenge the consensus.Dissent is a sentiment or a philosophy of non-agreement or opposition to a prevailing idea. It is important for a healthy society not only to protect the interests of individuals but also to encourage dissent. This beats dogmas or pragmatism and brings a fresh change to the overall environment. It is easier for people to abide by prevailing customs and phenomena- even if they are out-dated or clichéd and regressive for society. However, it is in the power of a few individuals to dissent from the existing customs and bring about a positive social change in society. The changing dynamics in workplace and private and public circles constantly raise such issues that need to be handled with altruism and dissent- though peer pressure and dogmas dictate our thinking and thus our actions. Following are a few situations that have called for altruism and dissent and the way people responded to it.In recent times, women political leaders, activists and individuals belonging to ethnic minorities have entered the political scene, which is a manifestation of public dissent in favor of social justice. People are now more focused on important social and economic factors rather than personal opinions or ethnic discrimination. Thus, the researchers perceived that delving into the empirical experiences of the nurses could contribute in the development in the theoretical formations that could enhance the nursing curricula (Sharif et al., 2005, p. 1-7). However, at the outset, the researcher clarified that they are limited to 90 respondents only from a university and only their responses were used in categorically qualifying the answers for data analysis. The answers were categorized using themes (Sharif et al., 2005, p. 1-7). These are (a) point of view, (b) initial clinical anxiety, (c) theory-practice, (d) clinical supervision, and ( e ) professional roles (Sharif et al., 2005, p. 1-7). There are normal memory loss (age-related memory loss) and pathological memory loss. This paper will particularly discuss memory and ageing with particular reference given to normal and pathological memory loss. Memory and Ageing Many people are worried about the issue of memory loss as they get older. The fact that memory loss is one of the major identified symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease adds to the intensity of the issue. Once an individual gets older, some significant changes occur in the way one’s brain works and remembers things. In addition, decline in mental powers is very common in old people and this situation also increases the risk of dementia. However, it may not necessarily occur in all individuals- and a significant percent of people reach their 80s or 90s without getting any significant damage to their memory. As Macnair (2010) reports (BBC Health), generally an individual has three different memories including working memory, short term memory, and long term memory. An individual’s working memory stores only very recent things like what he ate for breakfast. The short term memory stores things such as a future event date the individual has just checked.

When Fox choose to run in the cross-country marathon (5,150 miles) to raise cash for cancer research, his guardians, his physician, and his companions contradicted the idea however he persevered, persuading a companion with a camper to support him.The noteworthy contributions of Terry Fox got to be especially obvious in the year 1976, after he started treatment for cancer and saw the enduring of other cancer patients. Trottier incorporates actualities about the astonishing chain of occasions that roused him to make this Cultural leaders are more rooted in the society in which they operate and try to adapt fast to changes so that no kind of biasness is resulted because of cultural change. Such an aspect can be well depicted in this hypothetical situation where an individual from Pakistan is appointed as a leader in an organization in USA.There are certain distinct cultural behaviors as per the Hofstede’s model of cultural dimension that separates Pakistan from that of other countries across the globe. Firstly the power distance aspect of the model cannot be well stated as to what extent it affects the cultural behavior. Individualism aspect of the model states that the people of Pakistan follow more of collectivism that is they prefer to work together with their team (Hofstede, 2003). This aspect even highlights that people of this country possess a great amount of loyalty towards their community or any other organization they become a part. The cultural behavior is such that the relationship between the employer and employee consists of emotional and moral bonds. As per the uncertainty avoidance aspect of the model the culture of Pakistan is such that it encompasses high uncertainty avoidance. This states that people are more inclined towards following rules, avoids any form of innovations, prefers security, like to keep themselves busy at work and are very much punctual (Halverson, 2008). These factors of the model state that the cultural aspect of being hard working, preferring more of team work, being punctual, following rules, building strong bonds with other employees and being loyal towards the organization would facilitate as a leader to work well and more effectively in the new organization in USA.The Hofstede’s model of cultural dimension states there are certain characteristics of cultural dimensions of people in Pakistan that can disrupt the

However, a leader can not have all the skills required of the role. The best situation will be to have as a leader someone who is flexible but firm. When it is required, he will let the leadership act to the others.According to Kouzes and Posner (1995), leadership begins where management ends. The management system of reward and punishment will give way to the innovation, individual character and the courage of conviction of a leader. Management skills alone are not enough to create success in an organization. Leaders are needed to seek out areas to improve. They enjoy challenges and taking them head on. Leaders are motivated and expected to challenge existing paradigms. The Theory X and Theory Y were first proposed by Douglas McGregor in his 1960 book The Human Side Of Enterprise. In his theory, there are two fundamental approaches to managing people. According to McGregor, Theory X is the authoritarian style of leadership while Theory Y is the participative style of leadership.(Hindle, 2003)Theory X assumes that the average person dislikes work and will avoid it he/she can. In business, leaders must counteract an inherent human tendency to avoid work. Therefore most people must be forced with the threat of punishment to work towards organizational objectives. The average person prefers to be directed. He chooses to avoid responsibility. He is relatively unambitious, and wants security above all else.Theory Y assumes that people have the tendency to exercise self-direction and self-control in an environment that favors them. This theory could motivate people to become high achievers. People will apply self-control and self-direction in the pursuit of organizational objectives, without external control or the threat of punishment. Committed people considers effort in work as natural as work and play.

The population of New York City is about 8 million people. All of them belong to different races and ethnic groups, so some of them look like me, but the majority of the population differs greatly (Crenshaw et al 1996). Diverse world views cause persons to selectively attend to information and to perceive similar information differently, though the same kinds of information are potentially available to each person regardless of race. Thus, racial identity models propose that the earlier stages (or the mono-racial types) are associated with poorer adjustment than later stages because in the earlier stages, the person has to expend considerable energy in screening out or denying potentially identity-shattering information (Schaefer 2006). Ethnic diversity is a historical process in New York so the majority of people treat other people as equals (Aronson, 2007).The leaders within my community treat white people the same way as other races and nationalities paying no attention to racial differences. Racial identification issues per se are not likely to be the primary concerns. As a critical theory, Black criticism single out condemnation and critique knowledge which is marked by more specific characteristic. The knowledge about racial discrimination presents itself as definite, final, and past human motivations and interests. As such, critical theory seek to destabilize such knowledge.Black criticism acknowledges that racialism is engrained within the system and fabric of American society. An individual racist does not need to so as to note institutional racism is universal in the leading culture. The theory recognizes that white supremacy and white privilege dominates the power structures, which propagates the marginalization of Blacks. Black criticism also discards the traditions of meritocracy and liberalism. Legal discourse reveals that the existing law is impartial and colorblind, nonetheless, the theory challenges this lawful “act” by scrutinizing meritocracy and liberalism as a means of self-interest, privilege and power.  Black criticism recognizes that meritocracy and liberalism are habitually stories told by those with power, wealth, and privilege. Such stories creates a wrong picture of meritocracy- every person who works hard enough can attain power, wealth, and privilege but disregarding the systemic inequalities which institutional racism offer. Intersectionality (examination of sexual orientation, race, class, gender, national origin, and how they interplay in various settings) in Black criticism leads to a multiple oppressions and identifies that race, in itself, cannot suggest disempowerment (Camara, 2011, pg. 63). This is a significant tenet in emphasizing that Black criticism is crucial for most oppressions facing folks of color. The rich have continued to amass so much wealth and grow richer while the poor have continued to live in poverty and their economic power has reduced such that they cannot afford to provide for their most basic commodities. To understand the disparities between the rich and the poor, it is important for us to look at the class theory (Dadush, Dervis and Milsom 3).In every society, the standards of living can be divided into a structure of classes. There are mainly three levels of classes in society. There is an upper class level which is mainly occupied by the wealthy in the society. They are the key owners of the means of production (Colclough and Manor 2). They control a huge percentage of the wealth of the nation and have much influence on the policy making of the nation. They are usually few in the society than the rest of the classes. The second class is the middle class. This group mainly consist of the population which are employment and have a good income but not enough for investment. They are usually the managers of the investments made by the upper class. Their main work is to ensure that the upper class continues to grow rich by ensuring that their investments are profitable. Their number is a bit larger than that of the upper class. The last group of class in the society is the lower class members. This class usually forms the majority in the society. They usually labour to get the most basic necessity of life such as food, shelter and clothing (Karagiannis, Madjd-Sadjad and Swapan 16).Concerning the class in the United States of America, there seem to be a growing gap between the rich and the poor. The number of the rich is growing smaller while the poor have been increasing at a very high rate. The middle class has been diminishing day by day due to the low income they are earning and the high cost of living they

Essay - GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES IN BUSINESS | Subjects: Business - Undergraduate The change has to first start from the self and then alone can we try to change people and things around us. Our role in creating change starts with the change within us. The mind works based on past experiences and knowledge. The mind is the most powerful agent and if the mind-set can be changed, change is smooth. However, human beings resist change because they fear the unknown. They would like to adhere to what has been the practice and are reluctant to adopt something better. Change within can occur only when we understand the benefits of change, when we have the ability or the knowledge to understand the benefits of change. This requires effective communication. We can bring change to the world through effective communication. Communication encompasses much more than simply talking. It requires the skill, it requires patience to listen. Meg Wheatley emphasizes on simple honest conversation (pg. 3) where each individual has a chance to speak, the chance of being heard. Communication has the power to move the world, says Meg.

The possibility exists that the “discipline and punish” mentality operating overtly and subtly in academic institutions publicly and privately may be more related to social hierarchies, engrained power structures, systems of status, and the needs of capitalist production facilities than a genuine valuing of the human being as a unique and free individual, as the work of the French Philosopher Michel Foucault suggested.

The constitution also has prohibited discrimination against people considered as untouchables for example through the Protection of Civil rights Act, 1955, which the government has continued to implement (Scott, 2010). This means that the discrimination that is going on against this society is not government sanctioned but a societal construction, which may take a long time to change. Discrimination of Indian Untouchables The contemporary India is a casteless society by principle. However, reports indicate that the more than 100 million untouchables in the country live under constant exposure to discrimination and humiliation coupled with numerous cases of violence, which most of the times go unpunished (Narula, 2011).
