Operant conditioning falls in the category of behavioral learning theories. Another theorist named Jerome Bruner came up with his own theory of learning which is recognized as discovery learning theory and this theory falls in the category of cognitive learning theory. In this theory he stated that learning takes place when an individual comes in contact with a particular stimuli, he forms a perception regarding that stimuli and then acts according to the formed perception (Leonard, 2002, p.97). The perception they develop regarding a stimuli is dependent upon the learner’s environment. A third category of learning theory is humanistic approach of learning and one of the most famous theories of this approach is Experiential Learning theory provided by Carl Rogers (Leonard, 2002, p.68). He stated that there are two kinds of learning taking place one is cognitive which is meaningless in nature and the second kind of learning is experiential which is significant. He stated that experiential learning is very important as it is backed by a need and whenever an individual has to satisfy a need he may resort to learning. For example: a person is motivated by the need of driving, this motivation will make him learn. <strong>Essay - Drama Play- A Doll' />Assignment - Population Pyramids-Session Long Project | Subjects: Health Sciences & Medicine - College

But for what it’s worth, it is noble because Brian really put effort in choosing songs that he thinks Gretchen would like. It speaks about how he really wants to impress her and make her feel that his feelings are true. If Brian was able to make the perfect mixed tape, I think that Gretchen will still not fall for him because Gretchen just does not see Brian as a lover. Gretchen’s type in the book is Tony Degan, and though he’s a jerk and it was not fair of her to put Brian in the “friendzone”, sometimes, even in life, that’s just how it is. Brian just needs to be content in being her friend because that’s all that she can be for him.The beer scene with Brian and Gretchen’s father is one of the best scenes for me. It’s really emotional and there are a lot of youths today that can relate to what had happened. I think, that moment meant a lot to Brian. He shared a close bond with his father but when his parents divorced, it’s like he was alone and the deep connection he had with his dad all but vanished. Gretchen’s dad made him realize that he is a good person – someone who’s worth something, not just a failure, or a punk kid, or a delinquent, or a nobody. In school and in his home, he was looking for somewhere that he can be accepted and a place here he can fit in. Sigmund Freud is troubled by the level of neurosis in his contemporaries. Though he emphasizes his neutrality as a physician (“On the Universal Tendency to Debasement in the Sphere of Love” 6), the very nature of his text is performative: they are too rich in anecdotes, interesting cases, and witty quotes to be called totally neutral. According to Freud, present society is on the third level of restriction of sexuality: it controls even those sexual activities that are intended for procreation only (“Civilized’ Sexual Morality and Modern Nervousness” 6). This is dangerous, because in this situation: (1) individual libidinal characteristics (that often differ from the societal demands) are ignored and (2) every man and woman is being torn apart by 2 contradictory yet inescapable desires. One of them is the need of appreciation from fellow human beings, which is impossible when the sexual behavior of an individual is considered inappropriate. Another one is an instinct that Freud associates with love. In “Civilized’ Sexual Morality and Modern Nervousness”, the founder of psychoanalysis describes sexual instinct as almost a living creature that is innate in every human.

Essay - communication's course assignment | Subjects: Miscellaneous - Ph.D. This paper stresses that substance abuse can highly affect human behavior. Domestic violence is one of the implications of substance abuse. Due to its involvement in domestic violence the substance abuse can highly affect the daily life and the behavioral characteristics of women, as wives, and children within families worldwide. In practice, it has been proved that domestic violence incidents are not always reported, under the fear that such initiative would lead to the increase of the frequency of these incidents. The author talks that since no personal data will be involved in the research the ethical considerations that the study could cause are limited. In fact, the primary data used in the study could not set any ethical problem since there is no case of unpublished information. The statistics and other primary data employed for the study will be available to the public and there would be no risk of violation of privacy. This paper makes a conclusion that the victims, mostly women and children, have not the power to protect themselves against domestic violence while the legal measures for the prevention of this activity can take a lot of time in order to be ordered. Identifying the actual consequences of domestic violence, as caused by substance abuse, on women and children could help to understand the criteria on which the measures for controlling domestic violence should be based. The proposed study responds to the need for locating and establishing effective measures for protecting the most vulnerable members of the population, i.e. women and children, from domestic violence.

Most of them wanted the Tower to be dismantled, however, when the construction was completed, the tower became a prominent French symbol. French structural Engineer Gustave received the assistance of two other engineers Emile Nouguier and Maurice Koechlin during the construction. The architect who assisted Gustave in the construction was Stephen Sauvestre. The Tower was constructed by three hundred workers who joined 18,038 pieces of pure structural iron known as the ‘puddled iron’. During the construction, 2.5 million rivets were used to join the pieces of puddled iron together. Unoka’s actions made him popular in his community where they looked down on him as a weak individual giving the name, agbala, a term to resemble a woman’s weakness. May 6, 2013 is just an ordinary day for some people, but not for four captives. On that day, if Amanda Berry did not take the chance to call neighbors for help and if these neighbors did not promptly respond to her pleas, she and three other women, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, including Berry’s six-year-old daughter, might have suffered for many more years, if they were not killed yet. As the authorities and the media conduct further inquiries and accumulate evidence, many people cannot understand how someone as “evil” as fifty-two-year-old Ariel Castro could keep three women under his control for ten years without being caught. The media showed that despite several domestic violence charges and neighborhood complaints against him, the police did not search Castro’s house enough to reveal his captives, three women, whom he treated as sex slaves for ten years, and the jury has not imprisoned him for any of the charges against him (The Associated Press, 2013a, 2013b- Meyer, 2013). The inhumanity of Castro’s personality deserves further objective inquiry.Because of the recentness of Castro’s capture, this paper has to predominantly rely on the news for information about his actions and identity. The news is not yet fully validated by police reports because of ongoing investigation and the sensitivity of the crimes. This paper’s analyses come from peer-reviewed journals and interviews with experts. The research questions are: Who is Ariel Castro? What made him do what he has done to these women? How can we avoid the social and psychological conditions that brought about his (under)development? The data used to conduct the tests were obtained from a survey conducted by AIU. The regression tests were conducted using Excel’s built-in function. The following paragraphs present the results and analyses of tests. The assignment conducted three separate linear regression analyses in order to establish a relationship between independent and dependent variables obtained through a survey. The relationship between the two variables, in this case, is expressed through the linear regression equation, y = a + bx. In this equation a is called intercept of Y-axis and b is called slope of the regression line (“University of New England”, n.d.). The slope indicates how changes in values of independent variable affect changes of dependent variable. The slope b may receive a positive or a negative value. A positive slope defines that the dependent variable increases as the independent increases while the negative implies dependent variable decreases while the independent variable increases. Table 4 displays one positive and two negative slopes. Thus, Y = 4.52 + 0.15 X defines that both Benefits and Intrinsic job satisfaction move in the same direction, which suggests that the increase of benefits increases intrinsic job satisfaction. However, Y = 5.75 – 0.16 X defines that the variables Benefits and Extrinsic job satisfaction move in different directions. It means an increase of Benefits decreases extrinsic job satisfaction. Regression equations Y = 5.75 – 0.16 X, and Y = 4.96 – 0.07 X demonstrate negative relationships between independent and dependent variables while Y = 4.52 + 0.15 X displays positive relationship between independent and dependent variables. The Excel regression statistics evaluates linear correlation coefficient r, which measures the direction and strength of relationship of two variables. Regression and correlation are two different concepts in statistical analysis.

This essay examines alcohol and drug use in the United States. Analysis While marijuana is the most use illicit drug in the United States, other common drugs that are abused are amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methaqualone, and opioids (‘Substance Abuse’ 2010, Web). Drug use in the United States has become a major challenge, as the country leads the world in substance abuse ("U.s. leads the," 2008). Today an estimated 19.1 million Americans over the age of 12 years are current users of illegal drugs. When one considers that the number of Americans with past substance abuse problems increases to 22.5 million, there is the recognition that drug use poses a major challenge to functionality. While legal measures have counteracted the problem through prohibitive measures, a major drug challenge the United States faces are design drugs. Designer drugs are drugs that are constructed in an effort to circumvent drug laws by altering the chemical structure of the drug, or by specifically developing new drugs to produce euphoric or mind altering effects in the user (Lyman & Potter 2007). With the advent of the Internet the sale of designer drugs has largely been shifted to the Internet. In great part the challenge for law enforcement is to keep pace with the newfound development of these chemically designed drugs. Essay - Personal Statment for Pharmacy School | Subjects: Health Sciences & Medicine - Masters me of the strengths of this argument are motherhood is a natural role for women, that women made this decision voluntarily as feminism has given them this choice to opt out and they are availing themselves of this choice, and having a family is one form of generativity in adult development that makes them feel fulfilled as a person because they care for future generations (Noelker, Rockwood & Sprott, 2006, p. 435) while weaknesses in the argument are that women opted out because they had majored in the liberal arts while in college, that feminism did not go far enough and that women tend to choose less powerful careers (Hirshman, 2005, p 1).The con side as expressed by sociologist Pamela Stone says that women opted out due to being forced to leave their workplaces. The strengths of this argument are that women forced to leave the workforce are not really making a free choice but a forced choice due to the gender roles imposed by social expectations of women, inflexible working environments that expect the female worker as a “superwoman” capable of juggling family and career in a perfect life balance, and there is actually a choice gap that limits the options open to women. Weaknesses are those which limits interview sample to elite women only, full anonymity and use of fictitious names. It is also wrong to have a fully integrated life due to feminism’s expectations (Stone, 2007, p. 16).Based on the contrasting statements made by the two authors as to the real reasons why women opt out from the workplace and chose instead to be wives and mothers, I tend to agree with the argument made by sociologist Pamela Stone because she made a more convincing style of arguments based on the social and cultural expectations that women are natural mothers and so the real reasons why many well-educated and well-qualified women opt out is not discussed. The real reasons are that an inflexible workplace with regards to workloads, expectations from a boss, the lower salary

Economic Reforms: During the early 1900’s businesses had acquired a rapid growth rate. This led to a few large corporations establishing monopolies which meant these corporations were able to control entire industries. These corporations sold their merchandise at lower prices forcing small business owners into bankruptcy. In 1902, President Roosevelt instructed his attorney general to file a lawsuit against one such corporation- the Northern Securities. The government won the law suits which lead to the break-up of Northern Securities. In his term President Roosevelt filed additional 45 lawsuits, in an attempt to break up the monopolies. Further, in 1903 the Bureau of Corporations was established. It was tasked to decide which corporations were ‘Good’ and which were ‘Bad’. President Roosevelt also worked to better the lives of workers by improving employee conditions. In 1902, some 140,000 coal mine workers went on strike. They were forced to live and work in inhuman conditions, in addition they were forced to live in company housing and shop at company stores. The workers demanded 20 percent raise in their wages and a reduction from 10 hour shifts to 8 hour shifts. The workers and the companies had reached a stalemate, as neither workers nor companies were willing to make concessions. President Roosevelt was forced to intervene in order to resolve the crisis.
